Description Nah just kiddin', thats just Gatorgirl. Shes cranky.

Sooo i did this in a painfully obvious 5 seconds, cause im running out of time to decide on a look for gatordog. This is... not quite what i was thinking, it looks too Flashy (the program) and unless im so hard pressed for time that I need to do it in flash, something more painterly would be cool.. I need to find someone to help me with background lighting and overall layout composition XD

But i also love thick lines, which generally seems more frowned upon in animation land. ;o;

I'm really far behind 0_<

Gaterdoooggg.

I happened to be attracted mentally by thick lines on stylish art, like this piece! I could tell it was your style before the page even loaded up your username, but that was because 1, i love your fabulous way of sketching and coloring out anything, 2, who can forget Gatorgirl?? haha, and 3, NO ONE i know can use thick lines while still keeping the detail, prettyness and comedy of the picture.
Fabulous!

Oh lol
I wanted to do that with my own before, but then I never got around to using the light tables in school....mostly because one of the animation teachers is really really scary.

keep the animation the way it looks i like that. maybe spend a bit more time on the backgrounds mix this messy ness with the details of the first cut backgrounds.

Gatordog =

I wish I could write something more coherent, but I finally started up my own animation studies, and they have reduced my brain to mush. Wishing you the best of luck with Gatordog!

dude I cannot WAIT to see your film done! I love your skills with composition etc. and I love the colour you picked for lines here. Non-black outlines are awesome!

also screw what animation land thinks, just do what looks good to you. I used to be overly worried that I wasn't working/drawing 'right' and it used to cripple me, rendering me unable to produce anything I liked at all. it's good to consider other people's critiques and opinions but ultimately you have to weigh it all and make your own decisions, and usually I find going with my gut feeling is the best option

And plz to let me know if you need any extra technical helps or advice. I know too well what a slog these things can be.

colonel-strawberry In reply to swift-whippet [2011-08-20 02:08:49 +0000 UTC]

Bahaha, yes, non black, thick lines have been my recent love XD Thats why im hoping to still clean up and color in photoshop, seems like it'd be quicker?? Iunno.

I'll keep that in mind, I do like thick lines, although i definitely went that route with my last film so it might be good just to switch it up.

I definitely will let you know if i need any help, I'm getting more and more worried about getting down to the gritty details of film making XD

swift-whippet In reply to colonel-strawberry [2011-08-20 02:15:08 +0000 UTC]

If you have a certain version of Photoshop (CS3 possibly, CS4 definitely) there's a way to create a video layer out of a .mov file and then clean on top of that in Photoshop, it's how we did it at my job. I'm iffy on the details of that though, you'd have to look it up. I'll ask one of my colleagues about it, I wanted to know how to do it anyway. It's an annoying process but once you get used to it is definitely useful.

Good luck! And yes let me know.

colonel-strawberry In reply to swift-whippet [2011-08-20 20:01:55 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, thats what I did for a test run for a shot, the video layer imported and then i just scrolled through and cleaned up each frame, its kind of annoying, but quicker for me than doing it on paper i think. Thanks!
