After Danielle was exposed by the Baroness Rodmilla De Ghent at the masque in front of everyone and dumped by Prince Henry, she is back to servitude at the manor. The Baroness delights in Danielle's misfortune and reveals her true feelings towards Danielle.

*Danielle tending to the garden*

Baroness: I have it on good authority that before your rather..embarrassing debut. The Prince was about to choose Marguerite to be his bride. Men are sooo fickle, aren't they? One minute they're spouting sonnets and the next you're back to being the hired help. Although I must say, I've never seen you quite this dedicated in your chores.

Danielle: What makes you think I would do any of this for you?

Baroness: Well. My,my,my aren't we feisty this morning? *Stands in Danielle's way to get inside the manor*

Danielle: *sighs* Let me pass.

Baroness: You've bought this on yourself, you know.

Danielle: I have work to do.

Baroness: Let the others handle it.

*Danielle moves past the Baroness*

Danielle: Don't you understand?! You've WON! Go! Move into your palace and leave us be!

Baroness: *snidely* You are not my problem anymore.

Danielle: Is that what I am?! Your PROBLEM?! I have done everything you've ever asked me to do and still you deny me the only thing I ever wanted!

Baroness: And what was that?

Danielle: What do you think? You are the only mother I have ever known. Was there a time, even in it's smallest measurement that you even loved me at all?

Baroness: How could anyone love a pebble in their shoe?

*Danielle is on the verge of tears*
