Part of a collab between and myself for 's mythology project. I've been fascinated with the original Merlin myth lately, and have been reading a lot of Geoffrey of Monmouth's works- It's incredible how different the original characters were to what we think is the 'Arthur & Merlin' myth today, especially characters such as Morgana/Morgan Le Fay/ Morgan:

'Geoffrey of Monmouth’s Vita Merlini (c. 1150) named her as the ruler of Avalon, a marvelous island where King Arthur was to be healed of his wounds, and it described her as skilled in the arts of healing and of changing shape.' - [link]

'Her final act is transporting the fatally wounded King Arthur in a barge to the Isle of Avalon to be healed (outcome unrecorded)...' -[link]

... And I'm totally in love with the new Merlin BBC series

BBC Merlin forever! If you ever want to buy the later volumes on DVD (the series was cancelled in America I heard?) and can't find any, I'll be able to get them easily. Just a thought.

Morganna is my queen, I love her to bits. This scene between the original mythical pair is so beautiful.

Yay! BBC Merlin forever! I have series one and two at the moment (I've heard that they're currently filming season three? )

lol, sweetie - I'm in Australia - the series definitely hasn't been cancelled here

And Morganna has to be my favourite character in the show as well- totally awesome

Lol, and thank you very much! I don;t know whether I prefer BBC's new interpretation or the original myth

This is just fabulous!!!

And apart from that...why does it seam to me that history's men have something against strong women and turn them evil or promiscious? Morgan and Marie Magdalene's who I'm focusing on btw.

Thank you very much!

Concerning Morgan, I think it was more fear that she was a sort of Pagan Goddess (being able to change form, having magical healing powers, etc) and not tied into any religion such as Christianity that made them change her role.

Well yes but I'm actually concentrating on the "strong female" part and not the "religious" side of thigs. If we talk in the dame manner that we can say the the female pharaoh Hatschepsute or Pope Joan (who might aswell be a legend) had the same fate.

True, I understand what you mean - it is a shame concerning Morgan as I definitely prefer her original origin story in comparison to her more contemporary redesign
