Description Here's Gluttony. My version of this demon is not based on purely eatting, but more like obsessively grabbing everything. One such flaw found in society is the need of coffee even when there is no real thirst. The worms are like extra limbs searching out for more souls to grab and stuff into Gluttony's huge belly... (Which is huge and littered with coffee shops inside his stomach). I have a whole comic based on this idea that Gluttony travels the world swallowing whole coffee shops and taking everyone in it to Hell

5 feet x 5 feet. One of my small paintings. Painted with Acrylics on Canvas. (C)2005

I can tell by the head that he was not always a pig. and obsession grabbing, that is a good definition.

Thats cool! Yeah on the first drafts of the comic, Gluttony stood on his hind legs, had pigs feet and a huge gut that ripped open and his worms spilled out as he walked. his head was more like a pig/rhino/creature thing with a big mouth that spewed worms.Β

Why didn't you keep it? It sounds better than a full pig body! Also, I'd loveΒ toΒ submit a sketch from the description you gave me.

Basically because he was too small...I wanted his worms to be a major part of his character and it didn't make sense that this version was only like as big as a truck...no way Fibble and a whole city of worms could all fit in that space haha he had to be much more massive and the worms needed to take over to the point he is a huge rotting body that only acts as vessel to their constant hunger. Thats why Gluttony now is just SO BIG and more rotten.

Comickpro In reply to tharailwaydra [2010-10-01 18:10:46 +0000 UTC]

Use a thin paintbrush and make sure it has a heavy loaded paint so it doesn’t become see-through as you paint the lines on the canvas. Also you need to keep your hand really steady

"5 feet x 5 feet. One of my small paintings."
You, depress me so much.

I'm lucky if I can paint something 11x7 without it being more than a piece of shit.

But, as always great to see, and It's apparent that you've made a few strides on Gluttony since this painting, after going here via link from page 4 of your comic.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Comickpro In reply to Willhellm [2009-03-13 22:29:23 +0000 UTC]

lol sorry. It was small to me....phft XD I work too large!

Don’t kick your work dude, everyone gets better with practice. I looked at your gallery and I like where it’s going actually. The one called "untitled” with the head spouting through flesh and the phallic symbols is really interesting. It reminds me of Freud’s interpretation that β€œgiving birth” is a dream symbol for things like frustration of emotions and penis envy. Also I see a repeating symbol in your gallery involving a mutilated heart which gives me lots of ideas to interpret about relationships and about inner feelings. So keep it up!

Oh and yeah this Gluttony is OLD, but still similar in body for the most part..If you could see more than his head. The worms have gone through a series of revisions though since this. (God! Sin looks drawn so bad now XP). But anyways, yup it’s a BIG clue about what’s coming in the next pages lol. Thanks again!

I like flesh, I like body parts. I like sexual subtext. The heart is one of my favorite things to draw. Thanks for the compliments. It's not very often that people see some of the symbolism in my pieces.

I'd say 05 is a little old yeah. Is Gluttony going to be eating some coffee shops? Or has he already devoured them all, and they're still there on our plane but not the planes of hell, and he's just leading humanity to the hells through coffee?

Good thing I don't drink it xD

Taking what is highly prized and sought after by many individuals in today's driven society was a wonderful idea. Many people do not realize the caffeine in their coffee is an addictive drug. I like your use of a multitude of blind snake-like protrusions reaching every which way as if trying to disparately seek its next fix with no regard to its self or anyone else. Beautiful metaphor.

I hate coffee shops. Really. I do.

I calculated a couple of days ago that it costs me about 20p to make a full jug of lovely filtered Douwe Egberts coffee.

What would I pay at Costa for a small paper cup that doesn't even tast as good? Β£2.

That's TEN TIMES what my entire jug (which would probably contain 5 paper cups) cost me.

So a coffee shop charges 50 times as much as my own coffee machine for a coffee that doesn't even taste as good. And people wonder why I take my flask to the park. Pffff.

Thanks for the drawing. I like it. ^^

Haha Thanks for looking at my painting! I'm really happy to know it could make such self-reflection on to your own coffee habits. That really motivates me and flatters me to see that my works commentary is well read too lol Coffee shops price are really outrageous, I agree! And yet they continue to pop up everywhere, thus the increasing amount of worms that grow from this demons belly for more and more And thanks for the comment, I appreciate it.
