Kithood and Before
Hazelpaw of LushClan was sent to TorrentClan, hoping for a lot of kits she would be able to mother. She had quite a ball with one of them; a young, dashing tom by the name of Feathertuft. Hazelpaw, although attracted to the tom, treated him a bit roughly than necessary – often calling him out and forcing him to do things like cleaning her nest or hunting just for her. Feathertuft didn’t voice his opinions and bent to Hazelpaw’s every desire. In the end, Hazelpaw picked him. Feathertuft proved to be very dominant, and treated Hazelpaw more roughly than she had him during the first five days in TorrentClan. They both returned to their clans by the end of the three days, and Hazelpaw was confirmed pregnant, receiving her name, Hazelfall.
Dawnkit wasn’t the only kit that Hazelfall gave birth to, but she was the only one who survived. Out of three kits, two were stillborn. Hazelfall was, in short, disappointed in the results. As soon as she was able-bodied, the young LushClanner soon went back to trying to get another litter. However, unbeknownst to Hazelfall, her reproductive organs had been damaged thanks to Feathertuft’s rough manners of treating her. The first time she failed to be pregnant, Hazelfall convinced herself that she would be fine and it would work the second time. Then came two more failures, and Hazelfall was exiled from the clans.
As such, Dawnkit didn’t manage to interact with her mother much, but the young kitten got the impression that she hadn’t been the best and hadn’t been able to please her mother enough. From that point forward, Dawnkit swore that she would be the best of the best, and be a LushClan warrior that her mother would be proud of.

Apprenticehood
Dawnkit’s ambitions seemed to have a chance to fulfill themselves when she became an apprentice. She was apprenticed to Songflight and started her journey to try to be the greatest apprentice in the den. She soon received knowledge that her father, Feathertuft, had perished while hunting in TorrentClan territory – murdered. Dawnpaw became anxious at that news – did that mean her mother was out there? However, after that, there were no sightings of Hazelfall and she was presumed dead by the clans.
Said journey to be the best proved hard, however, when there was a lot of competition. Dawnpaw had rivals (these 'rivals' were one-sided), and a few acquaintances in the clans. But she did have a firm bond with her mentor (and grandmother), Songflight. She also had a good friendship with a kithood friend, a young black-and-white tom named Darkpaw. These bonds lasted for the remainder of Dawnpaw’s life around the lake - as the fire came.

Songflight chose to stay behind, claiming that she, with her injuries and her cough, would not be suited for the long journey of leaving the territories. Despite Dawnpaw’s protests, the older she-cat stayed behind. Darkpaw, who at the time had been renamed Darkflare, also stayed behind due to severe burns on his face and legs. He had been caught in the middle of the worst flames. Dawnpaw bid both of them farewell and followed the remnants of the lake clans out of the old territories.

Journey's End
The journey’s end brought them to a large expanse of ocean. Dawnpaw was frankly a tad intimidated by the sight of so much water. How would she be able to even live in here when she didn’t know how to swim? The scraggly survivors made their way to where the scent of cats was strongest. Soon after, the group split up, and Dawnpaw was allowed to have a place in InfernoClan.
For the remainder of her apprenticeship, Dawnpaw was taught by an older warrior named Splashpelt. He led her around the territory and told her about the neighbors. The matriarchy, TidalClan, and the patriarchy, AshClan, made the young molly relieved that she had chosen Infernoclan. To be trodden under or to tread on others didn’t seem like a pleasant life, personally.
The rest of her apprenticehood went without much trouble.

Warriorhood
At long last, Dawnpaw was renamed Dawnfire, for her sharp tongue and outspoken attitude. Admittedly it was around half a moon later than usual due to additional training, territory touring, and the like, but as far as Dawnfire could see, the life of a warrior would be fine from now on.
