Description Been a little while since I put up a page... Well, now we're leading into the next chapter. Woohoo!

And here we have cameos! Yaaaay!

Isabel Cooper from Saoswife She appeared in a kimono at the end of Chapter Two "To Catch a Ninja". I had...sort of forgotten about that...and I was just about done before I realized it... Anyway, I liked this look as well. So there.

Rose Cooper from Bliver-Sleeper Apparently she's a vampire...hence the little fangs. At least, that's what I was told and so I went with it. Rather unique...

K.C. Cooper from SariSpy56 This one was fun, because she had a definite uniqueness to her character and her look. So sassy and gangsta.

So there were a few OC "Cooper relatives" submitted to the cameo project, whether they be long-lost siblings or cousins or whatever. My comic isn't going to address the "family relations", as that is the territory of the character's creator. But, I accepted them nonetheless. And here was a fine place to put them. Given events in the comic, I found it rather fitting. And they're all a bunch of criminals so...

Ah, and we have another appearance! Bubo! (That owl I'm smiling next to in my bio pic that I may change soon...) Somebody mentioned he should appear, and I agreed. Though, I did debate it heavily, since there's already a certain major owl figure in the Cooper universe. I didn't want anyone to draw any connections between the two. Still, it allows me to show there are other people working in Interpol authority other than Torus. Plus, it also lets me flesh out Torus' character more as well. Win/Win.

I can't stand Torus. Thinking people can't change who they are, he thinks he's doing right but his actions are just making law enforcers look even worse

You know, the more I see the Cooper OCs, the more I build in my head an idea that none of them are actually related to the Cooper clan so much as inspired by them. I can easily imagine many raccoons the world over as being infatuated with their species stereotype; idolizing the infamous Coopers to the point of changing their names and becoming copycat thieves. If enough of them are legitimately good at it, their antics would actually only further evolve the real Cooper lineage's reputation by having them be attributed to work that, technically, they didn't even actually do.

That's a very interesting thought! I like that idea.

Judge Bubo. I remember that stupid owl from another fantasy epic.
Oh and yeah, for cameo's sake I'm to assume all female and male "Coopers" in this story are not related.

Yeah, well this is not that stupid owl...;D

That's a good assumption.

Thank goodness.

BTW: Hope I'm not coming off as too harsh in certain areas of this comic. I'm reading it the whole way through and I am reacting the same I would with any comic I read.
It's honestly good stuff so far. And your technique is getting better.

There was one point where I was wondering if you were having a rough day. I sensed a hint of saltiness.

But no, you're not too harsh. And the criticisms you've made have mostly been good and useful. More importantly, I'm glad you actually are enjoying the comic.

shinragod In reply to ConnorDavidson [2016-04-13 05:29:53 +0000 UTC]

Yeah I figured I might've come off as such since I am treating this like a real comic book I read.

And while there are some moments where I'm like "really?" Most all of this is real good stuff.

Just keep in mind all comics I read have those moments so no big whoop.

I think the term you are looking for is "speciesism". Race was never brought into the subject.

I call racial profiling on racoons here! You sir will be receiving a letter from the NARAC(Not.All.Racoons.Are.Criminals)'s lawyer some time this week. Joking aside, Bubo is a charming side character, I didn't see any connection to him and Mr.C( that guy is 10,000 years old and Bubo clearly isn't) anyway a nice transition to the next chapter!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ConnorDavidson In reply to GarlandCelt [2015-01-26 04:41:47 +0000 UTC]

Let me guess - the lawyer is a raccoon. And he charges ridiculously high fees for his services. Oh yes. Not a thief at all...

X3

Well, I didn't think there'd be a connection, but you know how it is. I'm glad you like the transition.

Understandable since the movie is from the 1980s.
The only reason I know is because I watched the movie in a history class I took in high school.
It was pretty good given its release date

Oh, I've definitely seen the movie. I've cultured myself with all sorts of things from before my time.

I just don't see a reference to that here.

ClockworkAngel19 In reply to ConnorDavidson [2015-01-27 04:46:17 +0000 UTC]

The reference is mostly in just the fact you named your character Bubo.
Even though you clearly stated that he's named after that owl in your bio pic (great job matching the pattern in his feathers btw) when I saw his name it brought me back to the movie

I like that the only criminals that Torus seems to care about arresting are all Cooper raccoons. He must have a hatred of Coopers with a vengeance since one of them seems to make Interpol look bad.

More interpol hierarchy. Apparently to get high in interpol you have to be an assclown lol
A nice detail i like is the interpol grunts are differnt animals. They are usually just depictated as guerillas so nice to see other animals used

ConnorDavidson In reply to DORedux [2015-01-26 04:44:30 +0000 UTC]

Originally, I had thought of using all the same looking dudes for the Enforcers (yes, that's what I've called them - essentially Torus' goons) but then I decided that I'm much cleverer than that. So we get a little variety.

They are not the same as Interpol officers like Carmelita and the cameo cops. These are troopers directly under the Chief Director and at Ice's disposal. I will hint at the whole matter - but I'm not sure how developed it will appear in the comic.

Bubo. Hehehe.

Hmm. I always feel so conflicted with Torus. I feel like he could easily turn into a cliché (which I obviously hope not), but ehh.

well, you can't see an howl without thinking about clockwerk and how massive he is.
But there are many inconsistencies in the sly universe.
In sly 2 we have grizzly bears as wild animals; in sly 4 we have The Grizz.

And actually that judge is interesting on how he scolds even the stern Torus. Nice!

These five days without a page felt so long for me that I read this one with the following song on : www.youtube.com/watch?v=usfiAs…
I was like =>

However I'm not blaming anything on you, and I do believe you should keep this cute bio pic of yours with your domestic owl. So Bubo is its name, right ?

Whenever you start a new chapter, do you take some time to work on more pages than usual so you can update this comic fast, or not ? Keep it simple by the way, I'm just curious and all.

I am glad to mention that you have succeeded in being the most suspenseful writer EVER ! I keep on writing your account address into my toolbar every day to see if there's an update. No one made me so excited and impatient in my whole life, and I'm still impressed by your usually-fast updates. How long have you been drawing furry ?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ConnorDavidson In reply to Ironsides-2-50 [2015-01-25 22:52:53 +0000 UTC]

Well, yes it was a long time, wasn't it?

Oh no, that's not my owl. That bird belonged to a group called Earth Wings at their booth at the Salt Lake Comic Con. I got a photo shoot with him. And it was pretty epic.

Yes, I do take a bit of time to get a good number of pages drawn as each chapter starts. That way we can get right into the swing of things. Of course, sometimes my plans are waylaid by that thing called "Real Life". Then again, I also leave time between pages that I want people to really let sink in. Like the last one. And several other ones this past chapter.

Thank you! That's lovely to hear! I'm glad I've created a story that keeps so many people interested, and even on edge. That bodes well for my many other stories I have yet to tell.

How long have I drawn anthro? Not long at all. I've drawn animals and people all the time. And dragonkin and werewolves and merfolk and other fantasy "manbeasts" many times. And I've always enjoyed anthro things. I just didn't realize there was an actual term for the whole subject. And when I started drawing furry stuff at the beginning - oh boy - I was horrible! I had to buy books (which are hugely awesome and helpful) and look at all kinds of reference works by other artists. Now...I'm getting the hang of it, I'd say.
