Description I'm back! Oh boy - it's been quite a while, hasn't it? I'm sorry, but I really needed a break to relax and do other stuff. Plus, this page was a beast, believe it or not. See, I want to constantly improve as I progress, and something I've needed to focus on is background/setting/establishing shot. If you get a good idea of where something is situated, then it makes it easier to picture where everything is in respect to that.

I let my brother draw out the basic idea for Zahn's base, but he got a little carried away. I had to significantly simplify stuff - otherwise you'd have to wait even longer! But I think we've got the general and good view here. Zahn was my brother's original idea, so of course I would have to let him have some input.

This is going to be a fantastic chapter...

Getting a real Metal Gear Solid vibe from this. Not sure if you're a fan of the series or not. ;D

It could be me, but didn't Carmelita force herself to - as she calls it - sitting out in the open when she stormed away during the Ice Age chapter of Sly 4? Or do you think that she made herself a hideout before meeting Sly? I can definitely see her do that, but whether or not she did it, do I love how you had her end this page with such a humorous little comment.

Well, that's what I do. I like to throw humor in when is prudent.

I really like how you drew Sly's and Carmelita's faces in the last two panels. They look 3D, as if they were models from the games!

Keep it up Also I've been wanting to suggest something since eons ago when I started reading your comic - is there a way to taper the tips of your lines? Right now they look kinda squarish/blocky; tapering them would make the characters look softer in a subtle way

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

ConnorDavidson In reply to JemiDove [2015-03-17 21:33:54 +0000 UTC]

I'm glad you like it! I've noticed how well Carmelita turned out in that last panel too.

There may be a way to taper the lines...but I'm using Photoshop Elements and there's no pen tool there...so I use Paint Shop Pro for inking. I'm still figuring things out and trying to make it better. I may need to try new programs.

But thank you for the suggestion and critique! I appreciate it!

Actually, he drew this exact page (the base, anyway) but there was just so much stuff I had to cut things down and waaaaaaay simplify.

Thank you!

"Cooper! two already!"

"I'm on seventeen."

"What!? I won't have a ringtail out scoring me!"

on a totally unrelated note, when this comic is over have you considered doing a sly cooper and lord of the rings crossover? I think you could make it work and it's something to think about...

You know what will be pretty cool. If they sneaked around like in Metal Gear Solid. It does look like the perfect theme to do something like that.

When you think about it, the Sly series is like a lighter version of MGS.

TheLucky38 In reply to NekoHybrid [2015-02-23 16:35:38 +0000 UTC]

You know, that's actually a really good point. Now if only if Sly sneaked around the base in a box or, since Sly 2, a barrel.

On the top right corner of the first image can be seen some sort of tube, looks like a canon, coming out of a protection sheet. Is that some sort of big ass weapon?

It's true. In each chapter of every Sly game, they always set up a base camp before pulling off the jobs. They DEFINITELY need to set up a base camp while in that place...

Well, well. An arms dealer with ambitions of becoming a warlord himself...and he's got all the toys he needs to make it happen. The Cooper Gang might have their work cut out for them on this one--sure, they've dealt with mercenaries before, but this isn't like Prague or Venice. This time, all the heavily-armed soldiers are on the same team, and on the lookout for the Cooper Gang if I'm any judge.

I'm sure they could handle it. It's not like they beat a pseudo-dictactor before.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

FastTquick In reply to TUFFAgentShepherd [2015-02-22 01:14:14 +0000 UTC]

Actually, the Cooper Gang did beat a Cuban pseudo-dictator back in feudal Japan called El-Jefe. The challenge here is that all the guards and Zahn himself are all armed with modern weapons instead of making do with medieval weaponry like El-Jefe's men had to do.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

TUFFAgentShepherd In reply to FastTquick [2015-02-22 10:01:26 +0000 UTC]

I know. El Jefe was what I meant.

But compared to Zahn, El Jefe's just a walk in the park.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

MikeyAnthroVulupin In reply to TUFFAgentShepherd [2015-03-02 22:58:09 +0000 UTC]

Jefe was probably not up to his top game, having to make do with (mostly) feudal armaments.
That said, El 'Castro Tigre' Jefe knows how to use a couple of swords!

TUFFAgentShepherd In reply to MikeyAnthroVulupin [2015-03-03 00:08:17 +0000 UTC]

Yeah. Samurai weapons probably weren't what El Jefe was used to, but he sure knew how to adapt. ^^
