Happy New Year! Well... A few more hours for me...but you know how it is.Now, at the start of the new year, we finally get to learn about Ice. At least somewhat. I'm not going into a full in-depth backstory for her. Just enough for you to grasp a better picture - and to help further the themes, foils, symbolism, foreshadowing, and other literary devices of the plot.
This page was a beast. I feared it would be - though I thought it would be because of the background. But the mountains weren't actually all that difficult. What REALLY was tough was the dialogue for this page. I have a basic script outlining things, but when it comes down to it, sometimes my original ideas aren't quite working. I had to seriously alter and re-alter the talking here. I'm still not entirely sure about it...but I'm happy.
And of course Drake's base is a castle. Location...title...dramatic effects...what else could you expect?

And fitting that Drake's castle would be in Switzerland. The place where Sherlock Holmes supposedly met his end with his arch-rival Moriarty but really didn't.
I wonder if that's any connection to the events about to unfold. ;D

Connor, I agree with you that it's not a good idea for you to go too deeply into her background story.
She and Snow couldn't accept themselves, could they? I think self-acceptance is one of the themes of this story.Β Do I accept myself? It's hard to say if I can.
As I mentioned earlier, this reminds me of the Serenity Prayer.

I really like this. Ice is probably the character that got the most interesting arc. She started as kind of a mary sue, but got a LOT better along the way.
Her relation with snow is by far the secondary thing i want to know the most about.

Also, holy crap, I know some of the reviewers here guessed about Ice having that implant in her eye and all, but I just kept assuming that she had gotten hurt in battle and that the metal part was her way of covering up a scar or something. And what the heck does she mean with Sly having to accept himself? I know she can see things about him, but does she really believe that, if one is not on the right side of the law, that they are not accepting themselves or something? Boy, you know how to bring up the mystery here.Β

He went mad because he had psychological problems that weren't addressed.
That's it.
He felt suppressed and demanded he be able to do what made him happy. Which, because of his growing violent personality, was ultimately to hurt people. And get paid doing it. He blamed others for denying him his pleasures.
He went psychotic. The cybernetics helped push him over the edge.
That's it.
