And I don't want to skip Spalko, for that matter. Shitting on the perfectly cromulent The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull has become a well-regarded sport in the years from its premiere, which says more about how people react to a letdown than about the quality of a so-so film with a bunch of good things in it. One of them is Irina Spalko, who gives Cate Blanchett the chance to prove herself a master of deadpan histrionics (if such a thing exists). She's obviously having the time of her life playing a cartoon commie, and she does it so well.
