Description Here is a meme that I did featuring my Top 10 Favorite Video Game Heroes of all time, which happens to be a type of meme that I did after being able to do one featuring my Top 10 Favorite Video Game Villains a while back. Because I wasn't too busy doing anything else at the time, I decided to take the opportunity to work on such a meme after not being able to work on anything else that I needed to get done (aside from some pictures that I'll be doing as gifts and/or commissions for my friends, anyway). Just like with my previous meme that I did in the past, I had a really difficult time trying to find a blank meme template that I could use involving various good guy characters from my favorite video games that I enjoy, so I decided to create my own meme template that I'm willing to share once I get around to posting the blank version for anyone to use afterwards. Not only that, but I also had kind of a difficult time trying to decide which characters to feature on the list due to how many appealing characters there are in my favorite games, and I also decided to exclude characters from fighting games (with the exception of "Super Smash Bros.", of course) on my list because of how many of them are actually heroes, to which they deserve a list of their own that I might be doing sometime in the future. Anyway, for this meme I've done, I was able to post images featuring my ten most favorite video game heroes listed from left to right and top to bottom, with the character listed as my #1 favorite being featured in the top-left corner and the character listed at #10 being on the bottom-right corner. Just a heads up, though: I might be revealing some spoilers to those who haven't played any of the games these characters are from, so please hold off on reading the description if you don't want to be spoiled in any way. Thank you, and enjoy!

MY TOP 10 FAVORITE VIDEO GAME HEROES

#10 - Link ("The Legend Of Zelda" series) - Sometimes referred to as 'The Hero Of Time', Link is a young Hylian who is destined to save the kingdom of Hyrule from the evil sorcerer known as Ganon while also rescuing Princess Zelda, who is often able to aid him in his quest by using her magical powers in different ways. Ever since he made his debut in "The Legend Of Zelda" on the NES back in 1987, Link has become a very memorable and recognizable hero due to his green outfit that he always wears while also being armed with a sword and shield as well as an assortment of various weapons that he finds throughout his adventures such as bombs, boomerangs, bows and arrows, and the famous Hookshot. One thing to note about Link is that in most games throughout the series, the character that you play as is actually a completely different incarnation of him due to each game taking place in different periods of time, which I'll admit can be rather confusing except to those who are able to follow to Zelda timeline extremely closely, and my favorite incarnation of Link would have to be any of the versions of him that appeared in the 2D-style games such as "A Link To The Past", "Link's Awakening", and even "Oracle Of Seasons/Ages". If there is one negative thing about Link that I can think of, however, it would have to be the fact that he is often depicted as mute and silent, since I'll admit that I've never actually been a fan of the 'silent protagonist' concept at all when it comes to video games. But, nevertheless, I made sure to include him on the list as a way of showing that I still enjoy the Zelda games every now and then.

#9 - Fox McCloud ("Star Fox" series) - The heroic leader and commander of the Star Fox team, Fox McCloud is an anthropomorphic fox from the planet of Corneria who protects the Lylat System from the threats of the mad scientist, Emperor Andross. Fox was able to become the leader of Star Fox after having the position passed down to him from his father, James McCloud, who was killed by Andross' forces in the past. Aside from him being an anthropomorphic animal character, Fox is quite appealing due to his brave personality and strong leadership skills that he uses, allowing his team to succeed on their missions, and he's even shown to be quite skilled at hand-to-hand combat when exploring the surface of the planet Sauria during the events of "Star Fox Adventures", in which he was able to meet Krystal, and the two would even have romantic feelings towards one another afterwards. Even though Nintendo hasn't done much of the series in a long time (even when rebooting the series with "Star Fox Zero" for the Nintendo Wii U), "Star Fox" has always been an enjoyable game franchise with a cast of appealing characters, especially after I was able to play "Star Fox Assault" on the Nintendo Gamecube, which remains my all-time favorite title in the series ever since.

#8 - Kirby ("Kirby" series) - Often referred to as 'The Pink Puffball', Kirby is a pink being from the planet Popstar capable of copying the powers of his enemies, which he's able to do so by inhaling them into his mouth and then swallowing them afterwards. Kirby had made his official debut in "Kirby's Dreamland" on the original Game Boy, to which the American box art had depicted him being white (primarily due to the color limitations of the system) before he was redesigned to be pink as seen in "Kirby's Adventure" for the NES. What makes Kirby so unique for a video game hero is the fact that he can use all kinds of powers by swallowing certain enemies and then using their abilities in a similar fashion such as Fire, Ice, Spark, Sword, Parasol, Hammer, etc. that he's able to keep until he discards it in order to get a different one. Not only that, but I also like the concept of the character actually being quite powerful despite his cute-looking and simple design, especially when dealing with monstrous-looking foes such as the Cloaked Nightmare and/or Dark Matter. Even though I haven't been able to play any of the newer Kirby games since the release of "Kirby's Return To Dreamland" for the Nintendo Wii, I still enjoy playing many of the other games that had come out over the years, and Kirby is even a fun character to play as in the "Super Smash Bros." games as well.

#7 - X ("Mega Man X" series) - Best known as one of the last creations of brilliant robot scientist Dr. Thomas Light, Mega Man X is a robotic hero who protects the earth from the villainous Sigma and his army of Mavericks in the year 21XX. He also happens to be the leader of a group of peace-keeping reploids known as the Maverick Hunters, to which he is even assisted by his friend and ally Zero. One of the unique things about "Mega Man X" is the fact that he was primarily created as a way of re-introducing the Mega Man game series for the SNES after Capcom had much success releasing the titles on the NES, so what they did was they made a newer version of the Blue Bomber and made it a kind of spin-off series while still releasing new games for the Classic Mega Man series afterward. As a result, X is pretty much similar to his original counterpart by being depicted with a strong sense of justice while also having the ability to use the powers of his foes after defeating them in battle. Even though the series has pretty much gone downhill since the release of "Mega Man X5" for the Sony PlayStation, all the other games in the series that came out before it are still worth playing, which can be found in compilation titles such as "Mega Man X Collection" for the PlayStation 2 and Nintendo Gamecube as well as "Mega Man X Legacy Collection" for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. If that's not enough, X also happens to be playable in the fighting game "Marvel Vs. Capcom Infinite", and there's even a Mii Fighter costume of him available in "Super Smash Bros. Ultimate" via DLC.

#6 - Earthworm Jim ("Earthworm Jim" series) - Once an ordinary earthworm that was crawling around in the soil, a super-powered spacesuit from across the cosmos had fallen to Earth and landed on the worm, causing the worm to mutate by sporting two eyes and a mouth while also having a strong sense of justice; Thus, the super-powered hero known as Earthworm Jim was born. As you can probably guess by the silly origin of such a character, Earthworm Jim is quite possibly one of the funniest video game heroes that I have known ever since I was a kid growing up in the 1990s, and he can be easily recognizable by his spacesuit that gives him super-strength as well as a plasma blaster that he uses to blast his enemies to atoms. Throughout the series, Jim is able to go on all kinds of adventures that usually involve him fighting ridiculous bad guys such as Psycrow, Evil The Cat, Professor Monkey-For-A-Head, and Queen Slug-For-A-Butt while also rescuing his love interest, the lovely Princess What's-Her-Name (And, yes, that is her actual name). The "Earthworm Jim" games that were released for the Sega Genesis and SNES are all still worth playing to this day, though all the other games that were released afterwards have gotten a negative reputation due to how poor their gameplay is such as "Earthworm Jim 3D" for the Nintendo 64 as well as "Earthworm Jim: Menace 2 The Galaxy" for the Game Boy Color. But, even so, Earthworm Jim remains one of my personal favorite video game heroes due to how funny and comical the character is, especially the way he is portrayed in the "Earthworm Jim" cartoon series while being voiced by Dan Castellaneta (AKA Homer Simpson himself). Ga-roovy!

#5 - Sash Lilac ("Freedom Planet") - A former member of a gang of thieves known as the Red Scarves, Sash Lilac is a fast purple dragon from the planet Avalice who goes on adventures with her friends, Carol Tea and Milla Basset, to which they get involved with helping an alien commander named Torque in order to stop Lord Brevon, an evil alien warlord who had crash-landed his vessel on the planet and tries to steal an ancient and powerful relic known as the Kingdom Stone while also causing a civil war between the three kingdoms of Avalice. Even though all three female heroes have equal involvement in the game's plot, Lilac is pretty much the one who acts as the leader of the trio due to her selfless personality and desire to help others in need, which makes her such an appealing character, especially one that has a very cute-looking design. As you can probably tell from her design, Lilac actually looks more like she belongs in the Sonic universe, and there's a fairly understandable explanation for that: "Freedom Planet" was originally planned to be a Sonic fan game before it was changed to something different and original, and Lilac was also originally portrayed as a purple hedgehog before she was redesigned into a dragon while still keeping her mammalian appearance, which I honestly love so very much. Needless to say, "Freedom Planet" has always been one of my all-time favorite indie game titles that I enjoyed playing ever since I purchased it for my Nintendo Wii U back in 2015, and I am still looking forward to the release of the sequel "Freedom Planet 2" whenever it comes out.

#4 - Pac-Man ("Pac-Man" series) - Waka Waka Waka Waka! No, that isn't an impression of Fozzie Bear; It's actually the sound made by Pac-Man, the circular yellow hero with an endless appetite who runs around mazes devouring Pac-Dots while avoiding the four colorful ghosts that constantly chase after him: Blinky (the red ghost), Inky (the blue ghost), Pinky (the pink ghost), and Clyde (the orange ghost). Pac-Man made his official debut in the arcades back in 1980, and he has become one of the most iconic and popular video game heroes of all time, especially since the character had a ton of merchandise that was released over the years such as toys, clothing, foods, a Saturday morning cartoon series, and even a hit song by Buckner & Garcia known as "Pac-Man Fever". Even though a lot of games in the series involved Pac-Man navigating through mazes while collecting Pac-Dots and the like, some of my personal favorite titles in the series would have to be the 3D-style platformers such as "Pac-Man World" on the Sony PlayStation and "Pac-Man World 2" on the PlayStation 2, Nintendo Gamecube, and Xbox, which perfectly replicate the maze-exploring aspect that the series is known for while also mixing in some action-platforming that was already done quite well by the likes of Mario and/or Sonic. Considering the fact that the character and franchise is practically over 40 years old to this point, Pac-Man remains of most recognizable characters in gaming history, and it's hard for me not to put him on this list as well.

#3 - Mega Man ("Classic Mega Man" series) - Often referred to fans as 'The Blue Bomber', Mega Man is a humanoid robot in blue armor created by Dr. Light to save the world from the evil Dr. Wily and his army of robotic minions in the year 20XX, and he was able to make his official debut on the NES back in 1987, to which he was actually known as 'Rockman' in Japan. What makes Mega Man such a unique video game hero is that he has the ability to use the powers of his foes that he defeats in battle, allowing him to use their weapons in a similar fashion while also sporting some differently-colored armor based on the weapon that he has equipped, and despite having a strong sense of justice that allows him to constantly defeat Dr. Wily, Mega Man tends to be a bit naΓ―ve and trusting to the point where he is fooled by his arch-nemesis more often than not. But, even so, the Blue Bomber is still one of my favorite video game heroes that I liked ever since I played "Mega Man III" for the NES when I was a kid, and I'll admit that I was even excited to see him become a playable character in "Super Smash Bros. For 3DS / Wii U" after seeing the trailer for the games back in 2013 as well.

#2 - Mario ("Super Mario" series) - "It's-a me, Mario!" This is the iconic catchphrase of the most famous video game hero of all time, who made his official debut in the arcade game "Donkey Kong" back in 1981, in which he originally went by the name 'Jumpman' before it was changed to what we know him as today. However, it wasn't until after the release of "Super Mario Bros." on the NES back in 1985 when the character became really popular, especially since the game is still able to hold up for over 35 years now. In case anyone is unfamiliar with the character (and seriously, who would be?), Mario is a mustachioed plumber who protects the Mushroom Kingdom along with his green-clad brother, Luigi, while often rescuing Princess Peach from the villainous King Bowser and his Koopa army. Needless to say, Mario happens to be the very first video game character that I became a huge fan of when I was kid, and he was even a big part of my life growing up over the years (that is, until I was introduced to a certain blue hedgehog in the 1990s, but I was still able to love Mario just the same). Considering the fact that Mario has starred in countless video game titles and even made cameos in other games as well as appeared in other forms of media, Mario is undeniably one of the most important icons in gaming history, especially since he was able to help redefine the video game industry when people were starting to lose interest in home consoles during the mid-1980s, and I think we should all thank him for making video games what they are today.

#1 - Sonic The Hedgehog ("Sonic The Hedgehog" series) - I'm sure everyone was probably expecting me to put him in the number one spot, but Sonic The Hedgehog remains my most favorite video game hero that I've always liked a lot ever since I was a kid growing up in the 1990s. Often going by the nickname 'The Blue Blur', Sonic is a fast-moving blue hedgehog who likes to help others in need while constantly saving the planet Mobius from his arch-nemesis, the robot-building mad scientist known as Dr. Ivo Robotnik (AKA Dr. Eggman, which is the name he goes by nowadays), on a regular basis. Sonic also happens to be the mascot for Sega that was created as their answer to Nintendo's Mario, especially after the company's original mascot, Alex Kidd, had failed to become popular (aside from the fact that he was also kinda ugly and unappealing to begin with), and Sonic had gone on to become one of the most popular and recognizable video game heroes of all time ever since his debut on the Sega Genesis back in 1991. Needless to say, the Blue Blur is still able to appear in countless video games, even if some of the newer titles that have come out tend to get a negative reception (such as "Sonic The Hedgehog 2006" and "Sonic Boom: Rise Of Lyric", to name a couple), and he's even appeared in other forms of media such as comic books, TV shows, and especially movies, to which he's made cameos in both "Wreck-It Ralph" movies and stars in the 2020 "Sonic The Hedgehog" live-action movie. Despite what some people may think of the character, Sonic will always be my most favorite video game icon aside from Mario and/or Mega Man, especially if there are times in which I feel that he's pretty much the only anthropomorphic animal character in modern video games nowadays (not counting the NPCs from "Animal Crossing", that is), and I wouldn't have it any other way.
