It's hard to believe these were used in Vietnam. The difference between these and the Apache assault helicopter is unbelievable. Nice photo.

A very interesting helicopter. Served then and now, proving it's worth time and time again. And the differences are astounding. Thank you very much

You're very welcome. That's actually a UH-1H, an upgrade from the "D" model. The "D" had the pitot tube on the nose and the "H" has it above the cockpit and doesn't have the antennas sticking out from the nose. Other than that, the two are very similar. Most of the upgrades are internal, having to do with fuel storage, upgraded engines and the like. I grew up during the Vietnam war and have several references on the Huey so I tend to be able to spot the differences. It is a nice shot.

I greatly appreciate the information. I'll trust you on that as I'm pretty much clueless to helicopters and the Huey design. I could have also just read the nose it seems too, should probably pay more attention to my own photos, eh? Thank you for the info and the compliment. If you see any other mistakes, feel free to holler. I'm always looking for improvements.

You're very welcome. I've been into aviation since I was a kid (more years than I care to discuss ) and I've been building models of airplanes, cars and more almost as long. The basic Huey design didn't change externally much other than the extension for the D & H models, of which the N is an update (longer nose, twin engines, etc.). The USMC, which still uses Hueys, just got the "Y" update. New engines, a fuselage extension, a four bladed main rotor and other improvements.

Scale modeller eh? Did the same and now I work at a hobby shop. Clearly if I have any questions about the Huey, I can come to you.

Since I was old enough to read the directions. I'll try to help if I can.
