Well....they're sufficiently rare that you most likely won't find any when going fossil hunting.
But that's always the case, no matter where you go.

same thing with the coast down south
it makes sense though, back then Britain was just a few small islands in a flood zone so of cause land animals would be rarer than sea life

During the Wessex time it was part of a larger Western European island, probably jointed to the same landmass containing France and Spain.
So no small islands at that point (barremian).
