"You know, probably not the best idea to hold your breath while doing this." Kairell said, seeing her son out of the corner of her eye. She was teaching Ben water magic, as he asked her a couple days ago. Something was... bothering him, and she could tell. It wasn't the usual thing, surprisingly; it was more of longing, grief and wanting of distraction. Usually when things bother him, he tries to push it down with either a snooty attitude or irritation, but this time he was attempting to avoid it completely. This dwelling thing on his mind made him slip up, not being able to concentrate on his magic, though he was quite skilled at it for a beginner.
"Damnit-" Ben said before letting the water drop, ceasing his magic.
Now was her chance.
"Ben, what's wrong? You've been off lately." His mother asked.
"Its nothing..."
"Just."
"Missing someone I guess."
