I still dig the picture though. Do you sketch all in pen, or do you draft in pencil first?

I don't think it was out of place
The majority of my drawings are just plain ol' pen but every once in a while I'll start with pencil. This drawing was just pen. I actually doodled it in the middle of class

You certainly know how to use a pen!
I generally start with pencil if I can, when I do still draw.
I did however, learn how to draw with pen only much better than I used to while I was still in the military. They rarely allow pencils.

People always say with pencils you can just erase but with pen if I make a mistake I'll sketch over it which is probably why my drawings are so sketchy. But after using pen for a while, I've gotten really used to it and I like the way it flows much better than pencil.

I agree, pens do flow much nicer than pencils.
I don't think your drawing are too sketchy at all, in fact, I think it gives your drawings the extra detail that makes the image that much more interesting.
