Orihime Inoue from Tite Kubo's Bleach. Original sketchaday on my tumblr [link]Quick ink and color I did while talking to people on the =FooRay stream, Friday night. I've been practicing trying to multitask and color quickly like that, in case I ever do get around to streaming, myself (it would pretty much require a newer computer, which I'm very gradually saving up for). I tried a few new things on this one, mostly with rasterizing and blurring out the tone layers that make up much of the shading. Except for the hair, it turned out okay (and I know what I did wrong there). There will be more experimenting with this kind of coloring in the future.

After doing a quick image search, I'd say your problem is with the original design. So, I feel no shame about the proportions.

Do not worry about it, then. Yes, I would agree that the head is a little bit bigger than I would normally draw it, but I feel the character's creator tends to draw her head large and I was trying emulate his proportions. I do feel that I drew the eyes too big, which probably makes the head look larger. That was a mistake on my part. While I would not change the size of the head, I would make the eyes smaller if I was to draw it again. When looking at my own characters, I would say that it is my style to draw slightly large heads on purpose, though not quite as large as this head.

Not as long as my normal technique. This way actually uses less layers. Since I was using a couple of new ideas and I kept undoing and redoing the shading, I'd say I have 2 and a half hours in the coloring. With what I've learned from this, I'm sure I could do it in an hour or so, if I was in the zone and not enjoyably distracted by the stream I had on at the time. For me, the coloring takes much less time than the pencils and inks.

yeah, I totally understand the layers technique. and for me the coloring takes the longest 'cause I'm still learning values. and send me a link when you do a stream.

It'll still be a little while before I get set up for streams, but it's nice to know there is some interest. I'll be sure to let you know on that. BTW, I hear you won a commission from me, so let me know when you've decided on a character. No hurry at all, though.

Oh, the boobs? I actually think that's pretty close to the size Tite Kubo draws them, so that's my excuse for drawing them that way.

LOL, it's not THAT bad, just pretty bad. I think ONLY about half the females have insanely huge boobs. The rest are a good variety.
