Description
I sit around in my underwear because I can.
I put my mirrors inside my wraparounddeskdrawer
with my cheddar and sour cream chips that I always forget about.

I wake up with the sun because I want to.
I leave the shades open asfarastheycango even though
there’s a bar playing the entire soundtrack to Grease across the street.

I sing in the shower at 4am because I have to
in order to keep that showerscenefrompsycho playing in
my mind, so when I do Pilates at five with my door locked I don’t feel weird.

I run around on the quad barefoot because I need to.
Though public safety yelled at me when twofeetofstopsign
snagged the sole of my foot and bled across campus at dinnertime on a Monday.

I go to wawa almost every day because it’s there.
In the words of a fool I know, why wouldn’t I go there? No reason.
He is a role model, a guywholikestolisten with a gallon of popcorn at his disposal.

I’ll wait until tomorrow because you want to.
When tomorrow becomes thedayafternextthursday I guess I’ll
be around but maybe not in the context I’d like to be, though I’ve adapted to invisibility.

You could try
to look in my windows
or watch my sunrise
or kill me in the bathroom
or catch my frisbee
or walk with me to get ice cream,
but I guess I’ll just be your friend the whole time...
because I choose to.
