"Feeling better, Obi?"

"A little... its hugs really help."

Poppy nodded, "yeah! I'm glad that team let you borrow them as a comfort buddy!"

Near the Wynglings, Saint eyed them as he spotted the other creature accompanying the duo. He was not happy.

Poppy noticed this and decided to let him join in. "Mister Saint, come! It looks like you need a hug from them too!"

"No," replied the Biped in a rather cold tone.

"Why not?"

"Get rid of it, that's enough."

"But Obi–"

"I said that's enough!" Snarled Saint, both girls stood petrified at the scolding. Obi was already feeling suspicious at the Adult's reaction the moment she reached the Noc, but she couldn't tell exactly why is he acting like this. It hasn't happened with any other kind of pet.

Why, of all the creatures, would he feel repulsed by the inoffensive Nocs?

Saint glared at them with a threatening stare, only to realize he shouldn't have yelled at the girls because of his selfishness. This was not their fault.

The nightmare was gone, he thought, it's no more. It's not here.

"I–" his shoulders slackened and sat near them facing the other way, attempting to look less scary than intended. "I am sorry. I did not mean to do that."

The Wynglings looked at each other puzzled, still not understanding the reasons behind his lash out.

"A-are you alright?" Asked Obi shyly, a part of her scared of how he might react now.

Saint only kept quiet as his body deflated more, his big size could only get so far into trying to not look intimidating. If he couldn't hide, then he had no choice but to let them know.

"I do not like them."

"The Nocs?"

A low grumble coming from the Biped confirmed it.

"Why?"

Memories started rewinding in the back of his mind, filling him with the same feelings and fears he had experienced those days.

The moment he found the Noc trapped on that tree.

The moment his health decayed and yet he dismissed Osiris's help.

The moment he doubted his friend, blaming him for being paranoid.

The moment he saw the Noc's blood.

The moment his eyes opened at the reality.

The moment his friends were almost hurt because of his choices.

The many times he apologized to Osiris for not listening, for he was right all along.

And when he thought it was over, the thing returned to their home. Threatening everyone inside and bringing new victims. Even as he'd grown up since the last time he encountered the creature, his fears froze him in place.

He remembers the moment he felt useless.

But he shouldn't worry anymore, he saw how Osiris burned the creature down to the ground. Sent it back to hell.

Yet Saint can't help but be wary of every single Noc around since then.

"Nocoffs," he breathed, fists already forming at the invisible threat. "Spites that ressemble Nocs."

The Wynglings stared at him, already assuming the reason for his mention of those monsters. They may not be aware of all kinds of Spites but know they inflict great psychological trauma. Whatever Saint had dealt with back in his days, it was not pretty at all. But young minds did not need to know the details.

Poppy slowly walked to him, sitting close enough to brush his knee. "I'm sorry."

Saint shifted his hand and carefully pressed her body closer to him, letting her know it was safe. "No, I should be the one apologizing. You did not know and that isn't your fault."

Obi wanted to do the same, but with the Noc still here, it wouldn't be a good idea to bring it near the Adult. Saint noticed her hesitation when he looked over his shoulder.

"If its hugs make you feel better, then I suppose it can stay."

Surprised by his words, the black Wyngling gave a weak smile.

"Thank you."
