Description This is my 1st attempt at acrylic painting in years. Was going for early 20th century German Expressionism meets late 19th century Impressionism (the very beginnings of abstract art, I guess). Tried to create tension with the bright orange and yellow background juxtaposed against the figure and hues of blue. Also the awkward posture of the figure as he is sitting. One thing I learned, use much larger canvases for now on (this was only 7 inches x 5 inches). At any rate was mainly to start painting again. Really influenced by many works of art I have seen recently.

Cool again, looks like he just walked through some huge Mondrian panels and can barely stay seated... sleep deprivation comes to mind with the colours you chose...

Believe me, I know about being sleep deprived. Maybe that was an influence even. You get ideas in your head, and sometimes who knows why they come.

Thanks, yeah haven't been able to afford to paint, but acrylics were a birthday present. Can't wait to do some larger pieces

I like it, the colors are well choosen and the theme seems ok, the left leg is off but looks good all in all.

Thanks, yeah I wanted a posture for the figure that was not natural at all.
