Description

The great savannahs and deserts of southern Hiraeth are the graves of many kingdoms, but travellers still find their way out into this foreboding expanse. Some of these wayfarers are the Faabura, finding themselves in new homes throughout their life. They travel with the seasons, living between forests, jungles, mountains, and marshes. Many of them migrate, but find themselves returning to the sandy crossroads. Faabura form herds with strong emotional bonds with a unique structure. Every herd has a two vanguards, one led by the matriarch who guides the herd to sanctuary, and one led by the patriarch, who lags in the back to make sure stragglers aren't left behind. This lets the herd scout dangers in front and prevent hunters from catching their flanks. Adults in the main herd circle themselves around the young and the elderly in an attempt to form a bulwark. They tie their bonds together and trust one another to brave the unknown.
