HIBIKI IS GREAT!! Im in the same! I personally enjoyed macross II it wasn't any different than the rest??
It makes me sad hearing that macross II isn't liked D':
Have a feeling those same people, might be the ones who idolize macross frontier when it's not so great as one makes it seem. Or even like Alto :'DDDDD

Or I might have just missed something?!?!

Fans don't consider Macross II canon, because Shoji Kawamori wasn't involved and they made changes that didn't make sense to the original Macross.  To quote from a Macross forum: Macross II was made to try and exploit the success of DYRL, but since it was made without any input from the original creators, the writers got too creative and made some extreme changes that contradicted or made no sense with the original.  After it turned out to be a major flop.   Kawamori was planning to go back to the Macross franchise, and seeing that Macross II made absolutely no sense with what he was planning to implement, he decided to make it as an alternate universe to the original, or to be consider a fictional movie within the Macross universe.  Most fans consider Macross Plus to be the actual Macross II.

It totally make much more sense!
But then, macross: do you remember love wasnt even part of the original macross as well, being considered an alternative version(and macross II being the continuation)?????? But that one was highly praised from what ive seen. But do also see how macross II didn't make sense in the aspect. But im guessing Kawamori was part of that one??
Kawamori is so strict and up to date with macross omg(which I've seen other creators dont have much to say on what the anime producers decide to do after the original one), i love it. >:''O
