Description
As the sky gets lighter, hard on the heels of Western Musketeer and the diverted Paddington service (see previous pictures) comes the Southern early morning Portreath to Sheffield service, 1E29 (the 'E' signifies a train terminating in the Eastern Region). Hauled by an ex-works class 47, No. D1718 (in those days we would call it a Brush Type 4), the train is re-starting from its Truro (South Western) stop.

As this service will go via Birmingham New Street, it also takes the Plymouth route. The solitary passenger on Platform 2 continues to wait patiently for his down train.
