Description

Another DMU picture, this time at the remains of Falmouth station (once quite a significant branch terminus until the 'modernisers' got their hands on it). The docks form the backdrop to this scene. The train, set P554 forming the 17.45 Falmouth-Truro in July 1976, is somewhat unusual, as it consists of two class 120 power cars (W51575 and W51584) with an unidentified class 116 centre car in all-over blue. The train stands at the old arrival platform, which was the longer of the two. The station once had an overall roof which I dimly remember before it was taken down in about 1957.

This station is now called 'Falmouth Docks' and is flanked by new building, together with (surprise, surprise) a car park.
