Description
Steam locomotive 'Kilmersdon' (on loan from the SDJR Trust at the West Somerset Railway) at the restored Truthall Halt, July 25, 2019. Probably more people on that platform than at any time in its working life! I have allowed the bridge parapet to encroach a little so as to get the whole pagoda shelter in.Opened in July 1905, Truthall (pronounced 'Truthell', not 'Truth-hall') served only the village of Trannack (a scattering of dwellings) and Truthall Manor. The only picture I have seen with people on the platform shows two souls. However, I was privileged to step onto this platform which I would not have done back in the day - as we would have carried on through to Helston!
BUT - what a superb job the heritage railway have done in restoring this little station! No wonder it has won a number of awards......

Just past the Halt (behind where I'm standing) is a deep valley crossed by a granite viaduct. Will be great when they can lay track on that!
