Description On the face of it, a bit odd until you realise that 'Cardigan Bay' is a Royal Fleet Auxiliary ship. Her large bulk is attached to 'C' buoy near Plymouth breakwater on a hazy May 13, 2017 whilst pleasure craft frolic around her. Her huge block bridge is reminiscent of a World War Two battleship and such towers were dubbed 'Queen Anne's Mansions' by irreverent matelots.

Fort Picklecombe can be seen in the background over Cardigan Bay's stern.

Impressive for its sheer size! I know a few stories about fleet auxiliaries, apparently greatly underrated!

Yes the fleet couldn't operate effectively without them!
