Description
Recalling the 1950s and 1960s, former GWR 'Castle' 4-6-0 No. 5080 'Defiant' races through open country near Danzey, Warwickshire, on April 15, 1990. The British Railways-badged tender was borrowed from classmate 7029 'Clun Castle' which could be seen parked at Tyseley paired with 5080's tender.

This was the 'Shakespeare Express' heading for Stratford-upon-Avon.

Once again we see what I would call poor footplate practice with a guy standing on the fall plate (not a good idea) who has parked his arse on the edge of the tender and is holding on with one hand. A bad piece of track and he could be off, never to play the violin again...... in my years experiencing BR steam in service I don't recall seeing such behaviour.
