Great shot Ben, really beautiful colours.

PS. Is this taken at the Thatcham Reed Beds? I'm probably way off the mark but it just looks familiar to me.

Thanks, that 40D is a super peice of kit!

Thanks Nick.

This was taken at Dinton Pastures in Wokingham.

I know why you thought it was Thatcham though, that too is a place I know VERY well, I used to live pretty much over the road from there (when it was gravel pits mainly)

This is gorgeous! Ugh I wish we had such pretty things like that out here, but the states are suffering so bad with drought that there isn't enough water to make such a pretty, serene place like that any longer. ;-;

I feel you Brother. I want to quit working so I can move about with my Canon, but I have this terrible habit I must support. I have to eat.

I'm intrigued. Why do you want a Canon?
Is it better quality or what?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

CoupeKid In reply to crhino [2007-11-10 21:44:24 +0000 UTC]

I have already owned two mate.

I had the 300D before, and now have the 350D. The step up from the 350, to the 30D isnt that great, as the sensor is the same, however, going to the 40D, is quite a leap. Its a smashing camera with bags of new features, such as a live view, with which you can actually zoom into to what your photographing to get pin point accuracy on the focus.

Lost me. Zoom in on focus?
I use the Nikon D70 sometimes, when I can borrow it. How does that compare to these.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

CoupeKid In reply to crhino [2007-11-13 19:51:14 +0000 UTC]

it has a live view (like a compact camera) as opposed to you having to look through the view finder on an SLR. However, unlike a compact, you can zoom in (as you do when reviewing shots) when taking the shot.

I want one of those. Glasses, you know what a pain they are.
So, if you zoom in, does it still take the pic as it was, un-zoomed? Cool new word, lol.

CoupeKid In reply to crhino [2007-11-14 10:00:16 +0000 UTC]

i know only too well what a pain in the arse glasses are mate!

Just ordered a new pair........just over 300 quid! bloody rip off.

It annoys me, sometimes I wish I didnt work so i COULD GET THEM FOR NEXT TO NOTHING! LOL

Lovely shot. And I like all the plain trails... they add to the overall effect of the sky.
I'm hoping to get a new camera for Christmas; do you think a Canon EOS Rebel K2 is a good camera?
What're the little white dots on the water?

👍: 0 ⏩: 2

celticgoddessart In reply to celticgoddessart [2007-11-11 14:43:31 +0000 UTC]

You're welcome.
Right. It's an SLR, which is definately what I want. I just can't afford a Canon Rebel XT at the moment, as it's around $600. I hope to upgrade to that eventually, and then up to a Canon EOS 30D Digital.

Oh, gotcha. ^^

Thanks! I will. ; )

CoupeKid In reply to celticgoddessart [2007-11-10 21:42:06 +0000 UTC]

Thanks very much.
The Canon sounds good. I have no idea exactly how good as I havent read any reviews, as that one sounds exclusively for the US market.
I am currently using a 350D, having had a 300D before, and I am hooked on the Canon SLR range.

By the way, those little white dots are swans, visible nicely on a larger size, but sadly lost a little here! lol.

Good luck with the new camera, and let me know how you get on!

I love it! I like the composition: The sky is 3D, broken by the farway trees/bush, refelction of the sky in the water and then a bit of grass silhouet in the front!

Cool, glad you like it. I wish there wasnt so many trails from planes though.
