Description So named for its resemblance in balance with a violin bow. I know what you're thinking. What kind of handle is that and how do I hold it? The proof is in the holding, it balances magnificently and precisely between thumb and forefinger at the neck of the handle. We took advantage of the balance similarities to take some design cues as well. Hence the ebony scales with mother of pearl inlay. The rivets are silver, and the blade 01 steel.

one of the best ways to establish scale in these is to have it held in hand..would love to see a larger version of this..fighting axe size..I think the balance would hold true//although the other end might need a bit of a counterweight ball with the blade size increased..great shapes..thanks

Hmm... I handn't considered that in an axe direction at all. You may be on to something there, while I don't think I'd just upscale this and turn it into an axe, with a few tweaks.... You've got my mind rolling now. Thanks for the input

An elegant knife, and something I could see using all the time in the workshop.

looks rather like a scalpel a rather fluid ornate looking scalpel but scalpel none the less, it's pretty cool

A bit of a large scalpel, but my sheathmaker would wholeheartedly agree with that assessment. Glad you like it.

While elegant, I'm not seeing the purpose of this knife. Does it have a specific purpose, or task/s that it is well suited for, or just a different looking knife? It looks like it might make a good skinning knife due to the angle of the blade in relation to the handle, but there isn't much actual blade. That might be a good thing, when I think about it in that purpose.

It makes for a good leather working knife, or so says our sheath maker, its is indeed a good shape of blade for skinning. This one is really on personal feel. Once you hold it, you know if you'd have a use for it or not.

We put quite some work into the designs to exactly that purpose. We could receive no higher praise. Thank you.

I'm trying to get a sense of scale -- is this an an axe of some sort, or some kind of knife? It's beautiful regardless, and the motion of that handle makes me think you have a serious understanding of ergonomics ^^

Its a knife, the blade is a little under two inches long, that should give you a better idea of the general size of it. We're still trying to decide how to reference scale in the images without the ugliness of laying a ruler beside it. Anyhow. Very happy you like it!
