  Shirayama Kojiro loves two things: A good hard day's work and his sweet ol' mama. As a matter of fact, he loves his mama so much that he strives to become the most respectable Japanese man possible just to make her proud. Kojiro is obsessed with bettering himself, both mentally and physically, and will never turn down a challenge to test his capabilities. While he absolutely exudes self confidence, his mama taught him to never be respectful to others and to always have a generous heart. Although he actively tries to be a respectable man in terms of character, in truth he can be a bit simple minded. Having a distaste for the city and the innovations of modern society, Kojiro does come off as a loud and naive country bumpkin at times. He is easily manipulated by those more clever than himself, and is often times none the wiser. This is almost always a result of his weakness to flattery. Any person who delivers him a compliment will quickly learn that the easiest way into Kojiro's heart is to stroke his massive ego. Regardless of their intentions, whoever wins him over will find him to be passionate and fiercely loyal friend.

【Likes】

・ His mama; While Kojiro loves his whole family, she's the one he's closest to.
・ Working out; Any respectable man should be well-rounded in both character and strength... which means having a kind heart and massive pecs!
・ Plants; Kojiro inherited his family's green thumb and is quite knowledgeable in growing fruits and vegetables in particular.
・ The Ocean; Inherited from his Okinawan mother. The beach is his favorite location to spend vacation time.
・ His hair; He is very proud of his hair and doesn't like others messing with it.
・ Dogs; They're energetic. They're loyal. Kojiro just really thinks they're neat.
・ Compliments; The quickest way to have him wagging his tail.

・ Receiving help; He sees help from others as sign of weakness and would rather try to accomplish whatever task it is on his own.
・ City folk; Kojiro believes that people from big cities like Tokyo and Kyoto tend to look down on people who grew up in the country like himself.
・ Hunger; Being a growing boy, Kojiro requires at least 6 full meals a day (with snacks in between) to fuel his body, otherwise his mood and energy quickly plummets.

【Background】

  The Shirayama family is somewhat typical of those from Chiba. For the most part, they're wholesome, somewhat traditional people who live out in the countryside. They own a decently-sized farm that goes back a few generations. Like all Shirayama men, Kojiro had two things expected from him: To be headstrong and to work hard on the family farm all year, every year. He didn't mind having to work though. He came to enjoy the outdoors and the praise his parents would give him for a job well done. Every day Kojiro woke up early before dawn to help out the farmhands, then go to school, then help wrap up the day at the farm on his return. While he was praised by many of those around him for his diligence, there was someone who lamented his hard-working lifestyle.
  Kojiro is the second oldest of seven siblings. His brother, Ichiro, was older by a few years. When they were young, the two were very close and Kojiro always looked up to his older brother. However Ichiro was different in that he despised having to work on the farm while other kids got to play and travel to far off places. Being the oldest son, he was expected to inherit the family business rather than choose his own path. This caused Ichiro to act up and rebel. He would ditch school and work to catch the train to Tokyo to hang out with other hooligans. Tensions between the two brothers started to develop as their parents began to favorite their second child for obvious reasons. Once Kojiro was old enough to help out on the farm, he quickly became the “golden child” in their parents eyes, unfortunately causing his brother to despise him. The two would fight constantly, Ichiro tired of being compared to his younger sibling, and Kojiro upset with the grief his brother was giving their mother. In his senior year of high school, Ichiro dropped out and left for Tokyo, cutting off all ties with his family. This devastated the Shirayamas, and made Kojiro vow to his parents that he would be the most respectable man he can possibly be... eventually leading him to getting into the prestigious Kairyou High School.

【Trivia】

・ While his father's family is native to Chiba, his mother is Okinawan. He's only semi-fluent in the language, but he values the culture greatly.
・ His most prized produce are his family's melons, which are renowned across Hokkaido.
・ He plays stringed instruments pretty well. His favorites are the sanshin for traditional music and the ukelele for western.

・ He has a moderate underbite which sometime causes one of his lower teeth to get caught on his lip.
