Mister Miracle was born a slave on Apokolips, as a child he would try to escape and would be tortured by DeSaad. On his 29th Cycle he used a Father Box to open a boom tube and traveled halfway across the universe to Earth where he became part of a travelling circus and used his escapist skills to entertain people as Miraculum. Eventually the Furies caught up with him and he was captured. However, before he could be taken back to Apokolips, he was rescued by Barda who betrayed her Fury sisters and brought him to New Genesis where she told him of how his escape had caused a revolution on Apokolips and he was considered a hero among the common folk of Apokolips. The two sought out The Highfather and asked for his help in the fight against Darkseid, but he refused saying that it is not within New Genesis's prerogative to get involved in the affairs of lower beings. New Genesis would soon be attacked by Steppenwolf and his Parademons and Highfather would offer Miraculum to him. Attempting to escape again Miraculum tried to get ahold of a Mother Box but Steppenwolf destroyed it before killing him. As he lay dying the essence of the destroyed Mother Box overcame him and the two merged. Miraculum had died and from the Mother Box was reborn as Liberas, the New God of Freedom. With Darkseid now believing him to be dead Liberas and Barda made their way back to Earth where they would use the technology of New Genesis to give the people of Earth a fighting chance against the coming battle with Darkseid. Liberas also decided to choose a new name for himself, Scott Freeman aka Mister Miracle.

So, for Mister Miracle I realized I wouldn't just be redesigning him but also the entirety of the New Gods as well. I actually don't know much about The New Gods as I learned while doing research on Mister Miracle. For instance, I didn't know MM was actually the son of Highfather, so I figured instead of trying to adapt The New God mythos I would just create my own. I imagine that The New Gods of New Genesis are all beautiful almost angelic beings with shiny futuristic space armor while the New Gods of Apokolips are all disfigured and demon-like with armor that causes self-mutilation or something. I like the idea of Darkseid's minions being these sadistic dark gods, almost like something from Hellraiser, and The New Gods believe they are to above everyone else in the universe to try and stop them. I see MM as sort of the Prometheus of The New Gods, a child born from nothing who is able to harness the power of the Gods and is destined to bring balance to the universe. Essentially, he's the chosen one, which I think really works for him as it gives him a bigger role in the universe and also limits the involvement of The New Gods.

For his design I wanted his armor to look like it was really alien technology so it's all glowy and symmetrical. His entire body is covered with horrible scarring from the years of torture by DeSaad and he later tattooed over them. He is also holding a Mother Box which I have re-imagined as a basic tesseract. It's still a piece of technology it just looks like a glass cube that contains some sort of cosmic energy.
