Description Time for another slammer! The last ever slammer Multiple unit built in the UK.

Clacton was built in 1978 for the NWR for used on the Peel Godred Line, then only running between Kildane and Peel Godred. He was named as he was, due to his GEML based part of the class would, as well, run to Clacton.

Clacton ran only on the Peel Godred line, as the mainline wasn't electrified.

Clacton was refurbished in 1992, remaining in BR Blue (North Western), but given new seats, new destination blinds and new headlights.

Clacton was given a grand farewell in 2009, when he was withdrawn after 31 years of service.

He was put for warm storage in a shed at the Crovan's Gate workshops.

Clacton was taken out of the shed again in 2015 to be restored to original condition. Restoration finished in October 2023.

Upon return to power, Clacton was given a plaque to honor him being the last ever multiple unit Slammer built in the UK.

Clacton today is based on the Peel Godred line, where he has his own shed near Kirk Machan. He sometimes does Heritage runs on the island, but otherwise he enjoys resting in his shed, watching the young trains passing it on the line.

BOTH CLACTON THE CHARACTER AND THE SPRITE BELONGS TO ME! STEAL IT, AND YOU'LL BE REPORTED IMMIEDATELY!!!
