Description
The vile heart of corrupted Woodfall is the lair of foul, sad Beyruh.

Many hundreds of years ago, Beyruh was a Spirit Guardian bound by sacred oath to protect and bless the River Zora. For ages he poured his soul into the waters, that they might run clear and pure to all corners of ancient Hylia.

One day Beyruh left his shrine. Some singers say he left for a Hylian Princess, glimpsed bathing in a river pool. Others insist it was for an icy goddess that fell from the glacier, or a beautiful Zora priestess born with golden scales. Whoever it may have been, Beyruh forswore his oath for love.

But the oath of the Guardians is not a vow broken without consequence. Those who pledge themselves to the protection of the Goddess' creation are bound absolute to their charge. Only the sacred ground of the shrine can sustain the purity of the Guardian's soul, for the blessing of the Goddess is a fragile thing. When Beyruh broke his oath and parted from his shrine, his soul quickly succumb to corruption, and he was swept away by the river.

What remains of Beyruh now broods alone in the deep dark; bound in sorrow, twisted by hatred and lost to madness. His black malice boils up through rancid pools, strangling the land and dragging the last remains of a once vibrant forest down into the fetid swamp.
