Stamps are art in miniature that you can put in your profile.

Well it depends on the content placed in them. If you pixeled, or miniaturized an artwork you made to put in them I would call it art. If you just used a screen cap to put in your stamp that is okay, but it is not really art.

Stamps are art because

1: You are being expressive with it by trying to get the message across with a short phrase to heavily and immediately impact the reader.
2: Stamps are (obviously) heavily influenced by typography, which is a form of art, even if it is an underestimated one.

"Typography (from the Greek words τύπος (typos) = form and γραφή (graphe) = writing) is the art and technique of arranging type in order to make language visible. The arrangement of type involves the selection of typefaces, point size, line length, leading (line spacing), adjusting the spaces between groups of letters (tracking) and adjusting the space between pairs of letters (kerning). Type design is a closely related craft, which some consider distinct and others a part of typography; most typographers do not design typefaces, and some type designers do not consider themselves typographers.[2][3] In modern times, typography has been put into motion — in film, television and online broadcasts — to add emotion to mass communication." Another fun fact, letters started out as symbols since written communication started, and symbols are...You guessed it! Drawings.

Funny how people think that something has to be a pretty picture to be considered art. Sure, not everyone will see a specific thing as art, but it is still a type of art. Heck, even some people don't consider an actual drawing art just because they don't agree with it.

So yea, sorry about the lengthy comment. One of my professors who is a type nerd got to me.

I agree with you 100%, but there are people that will tell you that art is subjective blah blah blah. XD Even if it is that doesn't mean it can't be seen as art by other people.
