Description
Part of the Germanic warrior kit I made for my kid. The sword style doesn't really fit with the style of the rest of the kit. Most of the other weapons are Dark-Middle Ages Scandinavian, but I wanted a more traditional hero sword that he could play with by itself apart from the kit, so it's an arming sword with a blend of styles from Norman (crossguard) to Celtic (pommel). This was the most involved construction of all the weapons, so I'll post another pic with just how I made this, but it's mostly pine with some heavy washers on the pommel to balance the heavy wood blade. The scabbard is tanned deer shoulder with a simple Celtic weave I tooled along the side. The blade also has a series of runes that have meaning to me.
