Description Part of the Germanic warrior kit I made for my kid. The sword style doesn't really fit with the style of the rest of the kit. Most of the other weapons are Dark-Middle Ages Scandinavian, but I wanted a more traditional hero sword that he could play with by itself apart from the kit, so it's an arming sword with a blend of styles from Norman (crossguard) to Celtic (pommel). This was the most involved construction of all the weapons, so I'll post another pic with just how I made this, but it's mostly pine with some heavy washers on the pommel to balance the heavy wood blade. The scabbard is tanned deer shoulder with a simple Celtic weave I tooled along the side. The blade also has a series of runes that have meaning to me.

Thanks again...it's fun to make something for womeone who's so appreciative. He helps me by getting tools for me, etc. and he never takes it for granted.... we'll see how long that attitude lasts.

Tzhasu?
What does that mean?
This is really cool, i'm used to reading a different kind of rune but this one sounds weird, am i translating it wrong?

I give a detailed answer about the runes further down. The turth is: if I was making a real steel sword I might make sure the runes are used 100% appropriately, but this was just for my kid. I wanted to make something with at-least superficial meaning and also introduce him to that aspect of his heritage.
