I've been watching the new Scooby-doo show. It's really good. Animation is great and lots of old throwbacks to the original cartoons (hex girls, Vincent van Ghoul). The voices and humor are pretty great too, only thing I'm not 100% sold on is how the girls are falling over the boys and the boys couldn't care less.I liked the old tension more. How you never really saw anything between anyone but there was always that question of if there was something going on.
Anyways, relationships aside, the show is great. And Velma has always been my favorite.

I always used to say that Fred's just a pretty face and Velma's running the show, and the new series finally shows it every now and then.

Sorry if this will sound offensive, but this piece really brings out the true b*tchyness of Velma in the new series: obsessing over Shaggy, hating over Scooby.

I used to like Velma, until she had a big personality change. There were no hints before this new series that she had a thing for Shaggy, nor does it seem like he's into her at all. However with Daphine and Fred, there were hints in the movies and stuff but now, it doesn't seem like he likes her the same way she does. Even with both, there's always this "other thing" in the way, like Fred's love for traps, and Shaggy and Scooby's friendship.
Also, it seems like they haven't aged one bit since the original cartoons but it was obvious in some of the movies. I guess in this series they all matured, which made everybody change.

Now, to comment a bit more specifically on this piece--You've captured the newest incarnation (Regeneration? ...As if she's a Time Lady!
It used to be, though, she was what I would've considered ideal in a girlfriend/wife. These days, I'd be happy and proud to have her as a daughter!

Oddly, many kids wind having personalities akin to that of their parents, even if they fight to try and be themselves, so Velma could end up just like her mother, since after all, the whole series of events Mystery Inc. has gone has happened before with a previous team, as per the show's over-arcing mystery.

It hadn't occurred to me that the newest version could be set up to be the old group's kids...or at least nieces and nephews. The mayor of Crystal Cove doesn't remind me a thing of the old Fred.
...But, perhaps that's the Mystery...!

Vilma is so different, the way she developed feelings for Shaggy. I imagined that it would turn out like that one day since Daphne belonged to Fred.

I noticed Van Ghoul's appearance, and if I'm not mistaken, I'd say it's Maurice LaMarche doing the voice this time out. Anyone else pay attention to the credits in that episode? They got cut off in my DVR.

Well, Vincent Price is DEAD, so naturally, he couldn't reprise his role, whereas when "13 Ghosts" was done, he was very much alive.

Oh, indeed, poor old fellow. I'll miss him. What I'm wondering though is if I've developed the ear to spot which impersonator is doing the voice! It's kinda like a game I have going with a Simpsons fan friend of mine--we try to spot Ruth Powers in the background of every crowd scene we come across. We've even gone so far as to get screengrabs so we can play "Where's Rutho"!
So, I'd like to start an audio equivalent to that game now! "Name That Vincent Price Impersonator!" Have fun!

I love this, its the best thing to happen to Scooby Doo in a long time. My only complaint is that Velma isn't as likable as she has been in the past. Like Daphne has had the best changes and has become one of my favorite character, but Velma and her wanting to change all things that make Shaggy into Shaggy bothers me.
