Description A pretty byzantine necklace I made a while ago and just now got around to photographing.

Bright aluminum as usual, but this time with glass rings! ^_^ I love those things; I should definately do more with them. The center pendant is some kind of metal - Not sure what, but the leaves were pretty, so I bought them. They are in fact two pendant pieces put together with rings and layered for the effect. Huge thanks to for this idea. I was torn between which leaf to use, and he said, "Use them both!"
So awesome, he is.

But I like it. It looks like something a wood nymph would enjoy.

LOVE LOVE LOOOOVE the green and silver! Amazing choice of the leaves for the center. I really need to hit up your store soon! I never treat myself anymore (due to lack of money) and should really do so sometime!

P.S. Sorry I haven't been up on the comments. I've been one busy woman with school and work.

I TOTALLY understand with the whole Busy thing.

4-month-olds and chainmaile are hard to mix.

Thank you! It's hard to do much mailling or journaling or anything else, really, but luckily she's a calm, happy baby who likes music and books (yay!) so I don't have to deal with an angry or fussy baby.

NICE! I hope my first baby is that easy!!! For now, our babies are our two kitties.

The cat is still a baby. He's already trying to teach his "little sister" how to kill things. He brings her half-broken spiders and once even a bird!

Thank you! I've got some glass rings with aurora borealis coverings and have made a bracelet with them. It's very subtle, but very nice.

Thank you. I'v got more colors since then, but they're just sort of whimpering at me from their box, wondering when I'm going to finish my commissions.

Neat. Where'd you find glass rings?

Teh Intarwebs! I've also been meaning to scrounge around on Etsy for some unique, handmade awesomeness.

Although large glass rings can be found at Michael's - They make pretty pendants.

The larger they are, the more likely it is that I'll murder them and then trample on the pieces--then have shards embedded in my feet for the rest of ever.
Optimism, I has it.

They work very nicely in byzantine, but they are kind of hidden. I'm going to play around with some other weaves and see how they behave. Maybe I can make them stand out more.

Where did you find them? They are nice, I really like the colour of the green ones you used.

Fire Mountain, although I can't recall what size I bought.
Larger ones like the ones I used here - [link] - I found at Michael's.

There are plenty of awesome maile possibilities out there. My saying is, "If it's got a hole in it, it's fair game!" ^_^

visionsofthor In reply to crazed-fangirl [2009-01-14 17:50:44 +0000 UTC]

That does sound like a good saying. I am trying to put maile in with things like lace and ribbons, and see how that works out. It is not the easiest thing to do (though this is really my first shot at it).

Ooo that is a pretty necklace too! I can see why it would be one of your favourites. I like Michaels. You never know what interesting stuff you can find there.

They used to have boring "Every craft shop has this" stuff, but this past year they've been getting good stuff.

You're right, they used to be like that, and the one by where I work still is. But the new ones have all sorts of pretty stuff.

Another great place to find craft supplies is on Etsy. If you look in "Handmade > Supplies" you can find all sorts of nifty handmade jewelry findings - Pendants and beads and the like - It's really cool.
