Description Big Five Part 2: Cape Buffalo.

Employed in large herds of real buffalo these units patrol the herd providing real time data and intel on the animals and the terrain around them. Accompanied to each unit is an entourage of miniscule bird shaped UAV's built to mimic Oxpeckers. These little spies can easily transfer between the animals extending the observable area by many times. Due to the aggressive nature of the animals in protection the operator must remain at a distance from the primary herd. It is advisable to use either suppressed, air powered, or traditional weapons (bow and arrow/crossbow) so as not to scare the herd causing a stampede.

The African Elephant will be coming next. Stay tuned

hmm trying to work out how you would integrate them into a real herd, smell would be wrong but i suppose get him rolling in dung and he would blend in then and that brings an entirely different picture to my head

This image really shows the relationsship between your mechas, real animals and their human guardians.Β

It must be a really hash world to live in.Β

You've really managed to combine the animal and the mecha. As someone said it was first hard to know if it was an armoured animal or not.Β

So this would be used for things like border patrol I assume? With the bird UAVs acting as extended range eyes as needed?

Yeah the Oxpeckers would grant extended sight. These guys would protect animals from illegal hunting.

whatever they end up using as long as it stops poaching I don't care.

Essentially yes.
I just wish they'd use bigger guns against the poachers sometimes.

Another great picture! I like the idea that buffalo robots could be used in conservation research. They're already starting to use drones in research and anti-poaching, perhaps this is just the logical next step!

Fun fact: These guys really are the #1 most feared animal in Africa, in real life. Here's why...
1. They know how to zerg rush.
2. They can shrug off most injuries, including bullet wounds (good luck shooting them in the head, by the way).
3. They understand the concept of REVENGE.

You just made them way scarier. Brown has been made, my friend, brown has been made.
Excellent work!

CrazyAsian1 In reply to PsychoGrey [2013-06-07 06:22:55 +0000 UTC]

Thanks for the facts. I found similar facts myself. They really are pretty scary!!
I think my favorite factoid was that their nicknames are "Black Death" and the "Widow Maker." Scary stuff!

I'm glad you like it!
What's that smell??? X___x
