Your characterizations of the starters are absolutely fantastic! I have to say I like Froakie's design the most, both in the official art and in your style.

Thank you! Messing with character design is a ton of fun. And yeah, Froakie is by far my favorite in this gen. Unusual as I'm usually not a fan of the water types.

Fennekin was probably the hardest to draw as I couldn't find a lot of things to cartoonify. It has big ears and a skinny body though so I just exaggerated those traits.

I couldn't tell what type of creature it was. It had a long tail so I thought it was some sort of otter.

Apparently the japanese name for Chespin is a combination of hedgehog and chestnut, so I'm assuming that's what it is!

Yeah, I would assume that's what the design is based off, but bubbles are more fun (and easy) to draw.

Ahhh my head is in a tizzy over these guys. I like them but I feel like they came to fast, I was still understanding gen5 Pokemon and adoring them and being amazed that they were "new"...
But yeah, this guy is my favourite, he's so adorable. I really hope he gets a bubble mustache too haha.

Yeah damn, I'm still surprised how fast these appeared, it feels like BW came out only a year ago or so. Oh well, will be interesting to see the new pokemon designs!
