what sense would you say this activates?
i can feel texture in it, maybe because i've sat on the steps next to that railing to throw the ball for my dog, for years. the stairs are made of concrete with a rough texture that is quite fine. the railings are a bit smooth, but some of the paint is coming off, so it's not entirely smooth. also, when i sit there in the summer the sun shines there at certain times and it feels so good to sit there.Β
i love the idea of catching a moment, i like to work that way!

My imaginations looking at your nice photo:Β The discontinuous shadow of the railing looks playfully as if it is going to jump upwards step by step. I have an overall peaceful and positive impression of the moment you caught

I thought this was a drawing when I saw the thumbnail. You really have got a good eye for a photo. You have brought out the textures of the steps really well and the shadow of the rail makes a really pleasing composition. Great piece of work.Β

thanks very much mike! this one was just screaming to be taken! that's probably because those shapes and that feeling are, as you say, like what i draw. it was so fun to run into what felt like a picture waiting to happen.Β
i do see things as though they were through a view finder, or already cropped. it's funny since with phone cameras there are no view finders, just the picture in the whole screen. you kind of have to do the framing in your mind. i'm lucky that my mind works that way.Β
