I half-expected they went for a younger actor with mature sensibilities. There's definitely something enigmatic about him. It's funny 'coz when I was looking through Flickr on the eve before the announcement, I came across a pic of him in a set of The Shadow of the North promos and thought "hmm...not improbable".
His eyes are hazel-green, right?

So far Eleven has failed me, and it's not because I loved Ten. It's because I hate the whole 'mad man with a box' persona. I remember when the Doctor was a sensible, older fellow. This man is just horrible, and his stories are worse. I hope Twelve is older and more sane. Then who knows, we might get the opposite of this and my favorite incarnation: The Valeyard.

This is an excellent picture. Matt Smith has a lot of work ahead for him, even though I am sure he will be a great Doctor. This picture epitomizes my own inner feelings though--because David Tennant's shoes will indeed be difficult to fill.

Ditto to all that! It is absolutely wonderful! I too enjoy seeing the Doctor post-regeneration in his predecessor's clothing and searching through the TARDIS Wardrobe to find something new whilst coming across and seeing pieces of clothing worn by his past incarnations and companions. I'm really hoping we get a wardrobe scene in the 11th Doctor's first story.
I'm really excited to see Matt in the role! Judging from what I've seen of him in "Party Animals" and "Moses Jones" I think he's gonna be fantastic!

Hey great picture of the 11th Doc,still coming soon so to speak. And yeah,this is the sort of situation we've seen the Doctor in many times before. Post regeneration,sitting up from the floor after something catastrophic happens to him and...most of all still wearing his predecessors clothing,the most awkward of all that he has gone through for several times. Of course,the last time he actually regenerated he did it standing up for once,which was a first.
I wonder two things most of all,how will the 10th Doctor go out,and what exactly new set of clothing/costume will the new doc matt smith wear? Not another leather jacket I hope?
And yes as I said,great pic,would make a great ad for what's to come with future adventures of the doctor.
