Strangely, although I've always preferred "moon with cloud" shots to sunsets (I must have a dark side!), I've never noticed the pink tinge to the clouds with the naked eye. I wonder if the effect is a lens produced artifact?

Really? I can assure you that the pink tinge, in general, is not a lens produced artifact. I spent many summers up north at our family cabin watching sunrises & sunsets.

With sunrises especially, ok but this is moonlight. It's just that I was not aware of it with the naked eye. Could be a factor of the reflected sunlight or some form of pollution, I suppose? Or, most likely, the retina is not colour sensitive enough in low illumination to spot it? Sorry, getting too enquiring again!
