The detail in your images intregues me so much.
I love this because you have the whites and blacks again.

I love the image on a whole. I also love how brought in a sence of starkness with how much white area there is. But it all equals out.
Leaving nothing more than a beautiful picture.
Everything is so soft. and holds a lot of given character to the model.

Congradulations on having skill.

Have a good day.

Hey, thanks for the suggestion! I really enjoy it! Out of curiosity.. how did you avoid smudges???

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

crimmy In reply to afireinsideme [2004-04-20 12:07:24 +0000 UTC]

when I draw, I place a scrap piece of printer paper over the drawing so my hand never touches the paper. If I don't, I tend to get charcoal on the heal of my hand and on my pinky and cause smudges as I move around. The worst smudges, though, are usually caused by the oil in your skin. If you touch the paper, the oil in your skin soaks into the paper, and makes darker spots when charcoal is applied (impossible to erase most of the time)

exelent work.
you make me wanna try charcoal one day. I keep saying it, but never get to it, i even have some odd bits of the stuff i stole from art class in high school, but i hate how it turns out on regular paper.
I bet for another medium you would enjoy oil painting, for the way it blends.

I'm glad you like it. I'm not much of a painter. I am, however, a high school art teacher. No wonder I never have enough art supplies for my classes.

This picture is perfect. Really.

The shading is wonderful, as is her expression. The thing I like best, however, is that fact that although you captured Norah Jones likeliness in a perfectly realistic way, you still managed to keep your own style. THAT's impressing

MG: !! IT'S NORAH!!!! Wow, is that position from her CD? Looks marvelous, man . You see... the thing with my portrait drawing is that I can never find the best lighting... have any suggestions on how I can master that area?

By the way, you should see my Lana (I think) from T.A.T.U., she and the other, Nena (lol), are lesbians, but yet they're really good singers and make good up-beat music... sorry getting carried away here. But yeah, tell me about that portrait, please. Thanx!

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

crimmy In reply to Anubisu [2004-03-09 22:43:21 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, it is from the cover of come away with me. I turned up the contrast a little, but not too much. The photographer did a great job on that photo.

I love playing with lighting. My favorite thing to do is get a small lamp with a large cover...like a grow light has. I turn off the lights in the room and move the lamp around until I have the contrast I want. For some reason, I like portraits that run off the page or cut some portion of the head off.

Try playing around with the lamp in front of a large mirror in a dark room to see what effects you can get. Hope that helps.
