They are fossorial snakes, so it's not surprising! You have to look under tree bark and in dead logs to find them, otherwise consider yourself lucky to find one out roaming! We were lucky to find one, but total for the weekend was three!!

The only one I've found was under a rotting tree. Got plenty of rattlers and copperheads though.
