I once had a love,
Dazed within those honey scented times.
He would guide me with the utmost patience,
Giving the greatest sacrifice.
But my heart couldn't settle, so away I leapt,
Like a tiny dancer, attempting grace.

I become bound by shadow, hidden in
Desparate craving, isolation.
Seeking another, I notice opportunity.
He greets me with a smile,
Trying to hide his empty desires.

My weak legs can barely support me,
I have grown claws where fingers should be.
Yet still he says with hollow words, "beautiful."
So for him I shed my earthly ropes,
Though invisible chains remain.

Beholding what has been kept hidden,
He looks without seeing,
Ignores the face behind the display,
Accepts it all with quiet admiration
Before turning away with barely goodbye.

As I am left stranded,
Stripped of my morals, exposed on the ground,
My body, my mind, goes to the fire,
Torn apart by demons of my own creation,
Sickening my soul, infecting my sanity.

Rebellion fuels my fire,
Taking what is forbidden,
Shameful dances in night's sheltered kingdom.

Crafting the flames from the ashes
On which I retire.
