Description
So a while back Cartoon Network ran a pitch competition where you could pitch an idea. I didn't win, but I thought it was a fun enough concept to take a little further with. So over the last couple of months I've been tinkering away with fleshing out the concept a bit.It's rough around the edges and there's things I'd do differently, but it's time to work on some new projects as this was taking me a fair bit of time to get through now that I've been taken up freelancing.

I do have a bit of a quarrel wit the animation, the designs are great, but the way the characters move, specifically while they're running's a bit off to me.

I love the character designs and the very polished artwork and backgrounds given to it, but I felt that the animation did injustice to your designs and settings.
I dunnoe, quite a few scenes have really bad pacing or timmings on the animation. like it felt "slow" despite the upbeat and fast music.
like that monster arm grabbing the kid in the starting into the TV, I felt it could be more faster and forceful to give more impact to it.
it felt slow and I think it was a irk to me being someone who also does animation, felt it could had some impact.
the rest of the scenes also follow the same issue, I think your tweens are probably slightly too stretched out to deliver the speed it could had being intended for.
I dunnoe if its just a mockup initially, but after going through some quick checks on your other animation works, it seems like this is your current style. but yeah, I felt its sorta "slow" for such a upbeat and fast intro, which was really nicely composed.
but yeah, its a shame really, if the animation pacing and timming was abit more faster and edgier, I think it would really be great cause I really love the polished characters and the design of the entire set.

I cant find the actual .swf file of it on the internet, and that video does injustice to its actual speed of it as theres a slight drop in framerate from the video capture.
also motion tweened, but has really good speed and timming to its action. and also great use of gradients for special effects, which I also noticed in your animation that you didnt really fully utilize gradients for some of the effects that could be used in some scenes like your female character doing a magic spell cast, which was just a green vector blob.

Thanks for constructive feedback. I really appreciate it. Every animation I work on I always see areas for improvements and there's definitely a look that I'm always trying to achieve but haven't fully grasped the medium yet. I've only ever taught myself but always wanted to do do a proper professional course. Maybe sometime in the future

yeah, self-thought is a great alternative, tho slower I guess. I'm also a self-thought animator and I'm also slowly improving on my craft over the years.
when I hear some friends who went into professional animation courses, I kinda was quite shocked about the amount of stuff they have to do and had to learn that I thought to myself, I probably would end up hating animation if I went into this back when I first started out lol.... just saying that, these dedicated courses really filter out the passionate ones to succeed and be good at it in a short time. Which I personally felt that back then when I started out on animation, I just wanted to self-learn animation for the fun of it lol.

do NOT do the many mistakes shows of this nature due that really offset the world it takes place,
examples include inconsistent hud (score display and such) or changing the battle system out of no where......
if you want a wide verity of game styles, i would recommend making a fictional multicart. look up the game "action 52" for a example of what i'm talking about. then you can have the charitors chase him through many games.

neat. very Scott Pilgrim-y. plus I like that pink haired girl, she's neat. I'm Sorry to hear about your rejection, this is MUCH better than all the crap they have on CN right now. but it seems that this cartoon wasn't "Spontaneously outrageously ludicrously randomly Makes you feel like you got hit on the head and put into a coma while you were high off your ass" enough. plus this art looks like it was done by a professional cartoonist, and not a ten year old hyped up on sugar coated rum cake. you know, like how Adventure Time is.
