Damn, that looks like it took some time! He looks really awesome
But hey, does he have scales? Because if so, you could work even more with shadows and light , by for instance adding a few lighter dots in groups every here and there, to simulate the light being caught by his excellency's magic glimmering scales! This would make him look even more magnificent!

Also, up in the left corner there's an awful lot of just plain black background. Not only is it boring to look at, but it makes the Lizard King look alot smaller!
My advice is that you try to fill as much of the blackness up with the lizard, maybe give him a huge tail that twists around in the background? If so, you could add some scale reflections there and that would look AWESOME!!

I really like the shadows, they are well thought through and nicely made
