Mugshots are great to paint. They always make good art in my opinion. I've done quite a few mugshots over the past three years and along with Frank Sinatra, this is one of my favorites to do. Al Capone, crazy as it sounds, has become a big "pop" icon here in recent years.
I have to say it does make interesting art... a lot of fun to paint.

I appreciate it man...this one took me around 7 hours over 2 days. The actual painting has a kind of dirty steel edging around the edges, overlapping onto the face of the canvas by about a half inch.
I went ahead and cropped that out, it didn't really look right in the photo I took.
