A short summary....

Kildrak are a species that thrive in poisonous bog shroomlilies*, various aquatic creatures, insects, and even large mamals. On average, they stand about 6 feet tall and are rather thin and light in the middle, though some have been known to grow extremely bulky and tough all around. Key features of a Kildraks are as follows:

The second mouth - on their forehead. A kildraks is known for its deep, seemingly unending hunger. As a result, the species developed a second mouth to better gorge itself (not that it would have trouble with the extremely large primary mouth..) The second mouth actualy leads to another cavity near the back of the head, where food is stored for a time in case prey in the area runs low, or baby kildrak need to be fed - in which the food is regurgitated from the holding sack (covered in preserving fluid, the second mouth does not actually lead to the stomach.) and is eaten once more.

the "Gem" is not actually a gem at all, to many a hunter and tradesman's dismay. It is actually called the 'false juel, or the 'lying chrystal', for though it sparkles, it is actualy the heart of the Kildraks, surrounded by a thin, transparent shell. A Kildraks' heart is very beautiful while their acidic blood is pumping through it.

The manes of flame Pretty much all Kildrak have a gaseous "flame" coming from their heads and tails. A Kildraks newborn has very little flame on these parts (leaving it very close to death as soon as it is born) - the parent Kildraks - usually the father - will lend his flame to the parts of the youth until it ignites, warming its body and allowing its organs to function at ideal temperatures.

Once a Kildraks' flame is lit, it eventually becomes larger and more pigmented. It takes a lot of the flame to go out, since it courses through the beast's entire body - the Kildraks will pump out this flame as long as its heart is still beating. They only venture near or into the bogs and swamps when they have to, always swimming with their tail above the water so as not to completely snuff out the gases and drown.

Eventually a Kildraks' flame will burn to large, it's entire body will be covered in flame. Depending on its duribility, this will either kill the beast (as is usually the case) or it will bird on a tough hide, a magnificent, fearsome creature of fire. Elder Kildrak are very few and far between.
