Art Trade with

Her beautiful mare, Prentis

I haven't uploaded for a while There's a list of things I need to do though, so you'll probably see a lot of me in the few weeks.

Naporie and I arranged to do an Art Trade ages ago, during the summer, but I only just got round to it now I'm such a lazy person. I've always wanted to draw Prentis, so here she is! I loved doing all her jewellery and markings - they're awesome, and I hope I got them as accurate as I could!

I spent a whole afternoon on the shading, so I'm pretty proud of it. Still working on hair shading styles though. I'm awfully impatient, so I probably should do a stage each day instead of two at a time, like I normally do.

The background . . . is supposed to be blurry and hazy and all. Hence the title My backgrounds never turn out like they're supposed to - this was supposed to be a summer field. Now it's like an apocalypse site. The only thing both ideas have is flowers

I know I haven't commented on many of your horse pictures but I do enjoy your art a lot ^^

I know I don't know much about Horse Anatomy but it looks pretty great to me You did a great job on the eye, and the jewelry looks great The shading does look awesome! I especially like how it looks on the legs ^^

I know you say you aren't improving but you most definitely are! But since you've been complaining about it I will tell you a few easy things you can fix, that will help make the art look a lot better easily.

1. Is to try a smaller line art thickness: The lines are bulky looking and since things don't even have lines surrounding them in real life, its best to not make them a big focus of the picture.

2. Coloring the Line Art: That will help a lot with the feel of the picture, after you have finished shading, lock the line art and select a slightly darker shade than the darkest shading color (so that the lines will still show up) (I see that you did color the line art on the Gold on the tail and hooves)

3. Don't have sudden dark shading: Most of the shading is great, the only part is the dark shading on the oblique line on the neck. The shading is such a darker shade than any of the shading around it and it looks a little out of place right there. (Sorry that's a bit of a small thing to mention)

Of course your art already looks great, those are just a few small things ^^ Great job on this picture Crystal

Long comment is long! Natsu, you really didn't have to write all that! It must've of taken you a while.

I know what you mean about line thickness, and people have pointed it out to me before. But now most people associate the bold lines with my style, and I do kinda like it Though, I'll definitely be putting the thinner line pointer on my other, more human art.

As for colouring the lineart - I normally do do that, and I did it here I think it's a bit merging with the background though, which may make it somewhat harder to see.

And finally, the shade on the neck. I think you're right! I normally start with all the shades the same colour, but then I change the base colour and the opacity to make it better fitting. I think I may of forgot to change the base colour there, since it does look a teensy bit out of place!

Yeah its really no problem, I make mistakes with my shading very often most of the time I'm just to lazy to fix it

Cool picture! I really like the lava in the background and the shading is so nice on the horse. I absolutely love your comment that the background went from a summer field to an apocalypse site! Sometimes art can take unexpected turns...

Loving the overall tone of this piece! It's really unqiue! Her markings are really pretty cool too. ;W; I think the overall tone (coloring and all!) it gives is just the best though TT___TT You are excellent with capturing that in your artwork! The moods of the piece!

I have to say, your comments are always amazing Peaches, and I treasure every one of them Thank you so much! I'm so glad you think I represent moods well, since that's one of the things I like portraying in my pictures, and it's something I've been focusing on quite a lot recently
