Fission and/or just being broken. If shot and bits fly away, they become other (baby) entities.
Also thinking they have a sentience of sorts.
Can 'morph' into anything so they can squeeze into any hole.
Also thinking they would 'eat' living organisms and 'stash' them in other places to have their life & vitality drained from them. Therefore the shade learns a new form in which to morph and can copy it almost completely the same save for a black spot in the chest area of heart area of said thing with small 'veins' spreading out from it.
just ideas I was SPECULATING about.

Give in to the Darkness, Jack- whoops, wrong thing. XD
Anyways, it's a simple but very appealing design, as an incorporeal psychic vampire should be. I quite enjoy those eyes. The biology - especially their "grooming" of their host's negative emotions - is a fascinating and horrific read, again, as it should be.

awesome, though i'm confused by you stating that "most importantly they have complex, fully-functioning eyes" in addition to the limbs
Leeches of almost every variety frequently possess at least a single pair of tiny, beady eyes, though they may have up to sixteen, arranged in patterns as varied as those of spiders.
I'm also surprised you didn't give it three jaws (like some leeches) or one jaw (like the species Tyrannobdella rex)
Are they hermaphrodites? do they care for their young like some leech species?
I'm guessing based on the jaws that they'd be closely related to the Gnathobdela ("jawed" leeches) as opposed to the proboscis-possessing Rhynchobdellida or the earthworm-eating Pharyngobdella. Am I correct?

Thanks! Well this was typed in kind of a hurry, I'm sorry XD I'll see to correct.
Eh, I tried a different way, as the Shade's jaws serve little function actually, they're merely an aesthetic choice.
Yet another effect of the hurry Xd Yeah, they are, and mating takes placeusually when they just left a host and are full of energy. In a certain way they do: they leave small clusters hidden close to a source of nourishment, the same the parent will use as host. This way the adults ensure the young are fed and safe, as the adult will react should anyone discover the youngs or endanger them. When hatched they're transparent and worm-like, and will seek dark and moist places to grow, still close to a host.
Correct indeed. That's the closest relation they have.
