Description Spawns are incarnations of greed, constantly searching for wealth and pretty much anything they see. Out of the earth demons, they're pretty feared for their sadistic ways and ferocious tendency. While supposed to not be as smart as the Brood, these horrors still possess some kind of alien concept of sentient, but so strange that it's difficult for mortals to comprehend.
These creatures live in a patriarchal society, led by a gigantic king.

Drone
Drones are born from the eggs laid by the king, appearing at first like little, black snakes. they immediately start looking for livestock, and once found they burrow inside it and begin eating. Their poisonous bite makes the blood pressure reach stars, and such they fuel themselves with genetic material. No victim survived until now. after that, hatchlings cocoon themselves and mature into their adult form, who shows some of their first victim's traits.

Drones have somewhat raptorian traits, and are completely jet black in color, except their green eyes.

Abilities: Enhaced strenght, enhaced senses, blinding speed, nasty bite, claws, hiding skills, tail blades, smart;

King
The King is a powerul engine of destruction. Enourmous and more tyrannosaur-like than raptor, it cannot move on walls, but has a power far beyond every Drone's reach, and is much smarter.

Those were fast-drawn ones, and YES, the king is recycled from the other old image, sue me.

I believe that's normal, since their idea started from Doppelzilla.

Drone:
Well, as the title says, this is just a sketch, but let's see...
Uhm..I'd go for the partial segments; yeah, I exxagerated with them in an attempt to compensate for the loss of the tail-blade, but maybe, like Raven suggested, they could have a rose-whip tail, covered in many spikes, at least near the tip. To tell the truth, those are just robs showing up, but even on their limbs they couldn't hurt, being so skinny they shouldn't have problems hiding objects in various empty spaces along their bodies. That can just make them more creepy.

King:
Since both Zilla and the xeno queen did, it didn't sound strange, considering Zilla was said to be male. Another idea was that the little ones just emerge from the king's skin, like a purulent plague. I changed the drones because I found that strange relationship fans make between xenos and jp raptors interesting, and wanted to try out what one of those could do. The tyrannosaurus side was to stay close to Terrondhos, for he's a Spawn king, even if a bit mutated. I'd say all those magic radiation affected him, kinda 'evolving' him. I will dude, for even xenos possess a chin XD.

Thank you very much for all your suggestions, bro .

LOL True.

Drone:
Okay then. Ooohhhh...LOL my bad then. That works just fine; in hindsight, the whole mist idea was a bit much anyways.

King:
Well, Zilla was also hermaphroditic and/or parthenogenic. That's more of a disease-like ability, so I'd leave it out for now or until it develops into something more useful. Well, both are supremely efficient killing machines, so it's no surprise really. Right then, just throwing it out there. And good XD.

Just trying to help, bro .

Eh, well.

Drone:
The mist might have been a bit much, but the bio-pockets are a really nice idea LOL

King:
Just like this guy, his babies just need some gore to grow up. True. Indeed. Ok. XD

And belive me, you do it very well

LOL

Hey listen, remember some time ago they were ice-based? I thought it wouldn't hurt to give them some more of it. I'm just thinking about cold auras around them and, as ulterior tribute to the xenos, a blood made out of liquid nitrogen, abe to instantly freeze and painfully dig into and destroy pretty much anything it touches when spilled.

Gilarah93 In reply to Crystaldemon93 [2011-06-08 20:24:02 +0000 UTC]

I do not recall it that well.

But I do like it, they could just as easily use it to make a "display cse" of their trinkets and/or fallen enemies of significant reputation. As an actual weapon, being blood and all, it would be either secondary or just a defensive one.

Crystaldemon93 In reply to Gilarah93 [2011-06-08 20:36:47 +0000 UTC]

When I called them Rakshasa.

Well, as weapon, they could act like some toad I currently cant remember, but who could shoot little quantities of its blood from it eyes. That'd be cool, and would differentiate them more from aliens, since they have NO eyes at all.

Ah.

You mean the horned toad, which is actually a lizard. And okay then, when you've put it that way.

That'd be it. Well, why not, it's something I've not seen very often in monsters, and I thought it would be interesting.

Yesh, they also puff up and flip on their sides to appear larger.

It is indeed odd how little a blood-spray has been used among monsters. You got my support on the idea so far.

XD

Hey, I'm thinking of dropping the raptor side of drones, and keeping them like theu were before, nearly identical to the king. I was thinking of using raptors or raptor-like beings as some sort of Bioraptor tribute, just lethal natural predators literally swarming on their targets. They would be something like the base of the food chain in the Gehenna. What do you think of these two news?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Gilarah93 In reply to Crystaldemon93 [2011-06-14 20:09:25 +0000 UTC]

Personally, I think the Spawn have pretty well cemented themselves as being "raptor-esque". In short, taking that from them might not be a good idea.

Instead, however, you could use oviraptorosaurs in a Bioraptor tribute, considering the two have some vague similarities to begin with (crests and whatnot). Besides, even raptors get boring eventually, and I don't think you've created anything with a beak yet. Or have you? XD

Crystaldemon93 In reply to Gilarah93 [2011-06-14 20:15:43 +0000 UTC]

Oh, fine then. Indeed it's not bad.

Elaphis, Ziz, Greed Demon and Female Basilisk. I'ts just that I have a thing for fanged mouths, and for some strange reasons I'm not a great bird lover, in case someone didn't notice. Fact is that seeing an oviraptor's face just makes me want to beat that ugly face until it looks decent. Uhm...with some thinking, it could be done. Question: wings for them or not?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Gilarah93 In reply to Crystaldemon93 [2011-06-14 20:23:03 +0000 UTC]

Just suggesting it.

I meant full beaks, no beak-teeth crosses. Look around DA, there's loads of horrid "what if?" vulture-like ovi's that may be similar to what you might go for.

Depends. Arm-wings, or secondary wings?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Crystaldemon93 In reply to Gilarah93 [2011-06-14 20:31:12 +0000 UTC]

And, as always, I consider very important your suggestions.

Well, Elaphis has no teeth XD
Uhm..I shall see.

Uhm...I'd go for arm-wings, flying while they kick dino-crisis style XD what about you?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Gilarah93 In reply to Crystaldemon93 [2011-06-15 14:02:46 +0000 UTC]

Thanks, glad my opinions mean so much to you.

LOL didn't know. And here's kinda what I mean by "killer ovi's": [link]
Also, I suggest reading the description in the artist's comments, it's not useful to designing your creature, but it's a very good read.

LOL why don't they steal shiny objects while they're at it? But yes, go for it, unless there's gonna be different classes of these monsters: the higher the class, the more wings they might have, a bit like Ziz perhaps.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Crystaldemon93 In reply to Gilarah93 [2011-06-15 17:15:45 +0000 UTC]

They do, bro

XD
I'm allergic to feathers on dinos, but that face could do.

Uhm...no classes, just hordes on damn hordes of them. The class-marking wings work better for angels and demons in my opinion.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Gilarah93 In reply to Crystaldemon93 [2011-06-15 17:39:49 +0000 UTC]

Thanks

Feathers can look surprisingly good on some monsters, especially ones like the nasty "hair" feathers on emus and cassowaries. I wouldn't doubt their usefulness in the asthetics of saurian monsters.

Right then. Single pair of arm-wings it is. I'd also like to suggest that thy are totally blind, but they can sense life-force/whatever to track their prey. Again, like the Bioraptors.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Crystaldemon93 In reply to Gilarah93 [2011-06-15 20:17:35 +0000 UTC]

I'm not doubting their usefulness or anything, I'm just saying I don't like them too much.

Righto. That could be arranged: In the end, we have some sort of saurian ass-blaster/bioraptor. Wait...that would be interesting, maybe ass-blasters rivals to these, or am I exagerating with monsters?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Gilarah93 In reply to Crystaldemon93 [2011-06-15 23:21:04 +0000 UTC]

Okay then.

LOL I had that exact same thought earlier today. Though mine was debating who would win a fight between a Bioraptor and a 'blaster. Honestly, though, making a rival might overdo it, but incorporating Graboid features into this creature sounds great to me.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Crystaldemon93 In reply to Gilarah93 [2011-06-16 12:02:16 +0000 UTC]

OR, making 'blasters daily versions and Bioraptor nocturnals doesn't sound bad.

Gilarah93 In reply to Crystaldemon93 [2011-06-20 13:21:25 +0000 UTC]

Orrr....male and female versions.

Crystaldemon93 In reply to Gilarah93 [2011-06-20 16:10:53 +0000 UTC]

Well, I know those are two completely different worlds, but not THAT different XD
What would you think of having a Dimorphodon-like structure, instead of oviraptor, with crests added, and Ornithocheirus for 'blasters? Just throwing ideas.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Gilarah93 In reply to Crystaldemon93 [2011-06-20 17:15:07 +0000 UTC]

Perhaps a mix of pterosaur and oviraptorosaur might work. Play around with it, and see what looks best to you.

Yhankya. I know, sometimes even I find difficult to follow myself. However, this is the final version. I'll make a better drawing, but the creature concept is this.

You like the raptor drones?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Ravensaurs-Rex In reply to Crystaldemon93 [2011-06-07 19:56:48 +0000 UTC]

Alrighty.

They are neat, but I have a minor design gripe. Mostly that the spines on the tail are so long and close together that they would limit movement of said limb to a degree.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Crystaldemon93 In reply to Ravensaurs-Rex [2011-06-07 20:00:58 +0000 UTC]

UHm..you're right. Having them long was some kind of compensation for the missing tail-blade, but I guess shortening them a bit won't hurt.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Ravensaurs-Rex In reply to Crystaldemon93 [2011-06-07 20:02:42 +0000 UTC]

Shorten them, possibly having something that looks like a rose-whip tail with tons of smaller spikes to make up for a single massive blade.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Crystaldemon93 In reply to Ravensaurs-Rex [2011-06-07 20:14:06 +0000 UTC]

These were to rensembe a croc's tail, sharp to the extreme to silently tear away someone's throat. You mean short like this [link]
That could work, I'll try something out.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Ravensaurs-Rex In reply to Crystaldemon93 [2011-06-07 20:19:00 +0000 UTC]

I meant on all sides of the tail instead of just along the spine. But something like that.

Crystaldemon93 In reply to Ravensaurs-Rex [2011-06-07 20:20:32 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I got that, I was talking about the lenght. Well, that way, they should be turned backwards, huh?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Ravensaurs-Rex In reply to Crystaldemon93 [2011-06-07 20:22:29 +0000 UTC]

Would be very good at holding prey still or looping around an arm and pulling it out of the way for other drones to attack. The spikes would add some monstrous grip.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Crystaldemon93 In reply to Ravensaurs-Rex [2011-06-07 20:30:45 +0000 UTC]

And why not tearing said arm away in the meantime? Thinking about it, why not? It'd be a nice idea.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Ravensaurs-Rex In reply to Crystaldemon93 [2011-06-07 20:31:57 +0000 UTC]

Well most likely because the foe could be dangerous/strong enough that they might settle for restraining the limb while their siblings gut the creature.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Crystaldemon93 In reply to Ravensaurs-Rex [2011-06-07 20:48:30 +0000 UTC]

But, if it dies, it serves no further purpose, why not feeding it to their young? I was thinking drones, as well as kings, could have a host of hatchlings crawling on their back spines, just to have them leap at any close enemy.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Ravensaurs-Rex In reply to Crystaldemon93 [2011-06-07 21:06:06 +0000 UTC]

Well, because it was a threat. Even if they can't use it, better it be dead and no longer a threat.

👍: 0 ⏩: 2

Crystaldemon93 In reply to Ravensaurs-Rex [2011-06-13 20:01:06 +0000 UTC]

You know, I'm not so sure about the tail anymore. I tried drawing a drone and a king with said tail, and there's something that appears off, at least to me. Sure, a spikey whip very good for a killer, but for creatures who use to deceive, steal and stealth kill I think it does not fit. Maybe Dop's original tais wasn't a bad idea.
Also, I don't know if the raptorian side really fit the drones, of if they sould have a muzzle just like the king. Whatcha think?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Ravensaurs-Rex In reply to Crystaldemon93 [2011-06-13 20:07:42 +0000 UTC]

Well a big blade on the end is just as deadly as several smaller ones. If you were really going for stealth or stealing as their main angle, their tails would be tipped with a third hand or something.

It could work...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Crystaldemon93 In reply to Ravensaurs-Rex [2011-06-13 20:19:53 +0000 UTC]

True, but I meant the usual row of spikes, only oriented backside and shorter, with tho rows before the end, pretty much a skinny croc-like tail, since they're amphibious.

What could?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Ravensaurs-Rex In reply to Crystaldemon93 [2011-06-13 20:24:55 +0000 UTC]
